In the aftermath of last night’s drama, Cyrell has made a statement.

If you weren’t tuned into the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here grand finale last night, we bet you tuned into the heavily anticipated Married At First Sight reunion. And boy, was it a reunion to remember.

What Went Down

It’s been a few years since Season 6 of Married At First Sight and, as you could probably guess, Cyrell Paule and Jessika Power still haven’t exactly made up. Throughout the dinner party, Cyrell confronted Jessika about calling her own relationship a “publicity stunt and that (her) child was a publicity stunt as well”.

“I don’t want my son to grow up thinking that he was never a plan in my life because I love my son and I love my partner,” Cyrell said in a confessional.

After Cyrell confronted Jessika, the two disagreed on the context of the outburst. Jessika claimed that she never said a word about her son but merely attacked her relationship. “Is that not a mockery towards my son?” Cyrell questioned. “No,” Jess replied, “It’s a mockery towards your relationship.”

“When it comes to defending your family, I don’t think there’s any limit towards that,” Cyrell said in an interview. Unsurprisingly, the night resulted in Cyrell throwing a glass of wine at Jessika.

Cyrell’s Official Statement

Well now, it would seem that Cyrell Paule doesn’t have any regrets about the night, in a statement made to Instagram. In fact, she called out the double-standards in the reaction to her vs. previous white MAFS contestants who did the same thing.

In an Instagram story, Cyrell said: “So when a white woman throws wine it’s considered iconic and she gets a little show called ‘Martha’s red wine moments’ but when a woman of colour does it…  It’s considered “Degrading, embarrassing, uneducated and a terrible example of a mother.”

Cyrell continued, “I wish I had that much support when it happened to me. Just remember, this woman, for two years called my son a publicity stunt. Mocked my appearance, mocked my relationship… imagine my son growing up and seeing that… feeling that he was only created in this world for money and publicity… but I’m the bad guy… you will never know the feeling until you are a mother yourself!”

Eden’s Official Statement

Cyrell Paule’s partner, Eden Dally — who you might remember from Love Island — also put out a lengthy statement in defence of Cyrell.

He said: “This pic here is of my family and my innocent child, say what you want about me and Cyrell, that comes with reality TV and we know this! This woman bagged out my profession, where I live and my Mrs’s appearance and never apologised once. Cyrell had built up anger and truthfully, I feel Jess got off lightly… speaking about a woman’s son like that. She was the only real one in that room and made it worthwhile to watch. She threw wine at a woman that was provoking her and then everyone else at that table ganged up on her… Said to get over “2 years of abuse of calling her ugly, our son was a stunt and she baby trapped me.” Imagine our little son reading that, how he would feel.”

Eden continued, “Cyrell spoke the truth, those men that stuck the boot in when she left crying and didn’t say it to her face… I call that weak. When you become a parent you will understand. Until then it’s just words. But people forget words hurt! Words are remembered. And they do leave a scar.”

We can’t help but wonder if tonight’s MAFS reunion episode will be filled with even more drama. Is that even possible?
