Damien From ‘The Bachelorette’ Shuts Down The Rumours He Was Meant To Be The Show’s Villain
Damien Stone was probably best known in the end for his dancing on The Bachelorette – it may have not been in competition with Ivan’s style, but it was certainly spooky in its own right.
Damien, on Team Elly, was a bit of a background character on the 2020 series, jumping in for Osher from time to time to reveal a stray date card. He took centre stage during the Halloween-themed episode, where he gave Elly a lap dance much to the delight of the other boys in the house.
Damien’s time on The Bachelorette came to an end last night after the obstacle course group date. We kinda assumed he wasn’t ALL that shocked to be sent home, especially with lines like this:
Tbh, we’ve always thought from the start we weren’t seeing the full Damien story. Why was a man so pretty, being shown so little? His smile was made for a Colgate ad, he looked attractively bored throughout his experience, and as we learned, he looked good without a shirt on, so he seemed like he should be perfect Bachelorette material.
We spoke to Damien about his time on The Bachelorette to try and get some answers to our burning questions.
On his connection with Elly:
“I was more in a friendship level with Elly (and Becky as well for that matter), but my intentions were towards Elly. The other guys were progressing along to a real romantic connection. I had a clue I wouldn’t be receiving a rose, it wasn’t surprising for me.”
On how to make a decision when you’re presented with not one, but TWO Bachelorettes:
“For me, it was all my decision, it is what it is. You have a chat with two beautiful girls, and one I hit it off with better than the other as a possible partner, so I went Elly’s way. When I went on the group date and I was put in Becky’s side, I was a bit unsure to which way the girls were going, I had no idea which way they were thinking.”
On the rumours he was meant to be the season’s villain:
“I’m definitely not a villain! I don’t know where anyone’s got that from. I don’t know what’s been said, I’ve been trying to avoid a lot of the media, especially negative stuff. I think everything was a pretty accurate portrayal of what happened. A few of my mates were calling me Richie Benaud, calling The Bachelorette ball for ball!”
On who the frontrunners are:
“Joey was an obvious frontrunner, he’s a great bloke, he was my best mate in the house. Elly’s pretty smitten by Fraze, he’s a good man as well. Pete’s an absolute ripper, you can see Becky’s pretty keen on him.”
On what surprised him watching the show back:
“It’s interesting watching the guys one-on-ones. We hang out as a group and we all chat with each other, but it’s interesting watching the fellas when they talk to the girls in a solo situation. The way they’re romantic and all that, that’s been enjoyable to watch!”
“I had no idea the guys were just getting creative to get more time with the girls. I probably should’ve taken a leaf out of their book and gone with that, I could’ve got some more time with Elly.”
On what gimmick he would’ve done to get Elly’s attention if he had his time again:
“You really are putting me on the spot! That’s the thing, I’m not super creative [laughs]. Being a Melbourne boy I’d probably just want to get a good coffee and have a chat. Definitely not a strip dance!”
And on what’s next for Damien and, yes, ladies & gents, he’s single:
“Focusing on my career, and hopefully the love of my life is around the corner. That’d be nice, it’d be nice to have someone to share my life with. Hopefully, Melbourne opens up and we can enjoy this beautiful city we live in.”
