Victoria Vs NSW: Daniel Andrews Gets Fierce, Has Twitter Beef With BuzzFeed’s Mark Di Stefano
Ahhhh the ol’ Melbourne/Victoria V Sydney/NSW’ debate – a rivalry for the ages – a fight for superiority with ultimately no conclusion. Aussies are tribal people and we just couldn’t accept members of the opposite state or city somehow accepting their imaginary superiority as fact. No, that just wouldn’t be on.
I mean, we certainly don’t want to convince them that they should move here (yuk). We just hate it that they think they’re better.
The whole ‘debate’ basically makes no sense and the argument kind of has nowhere to go – but God it feels good to argue over it.
Today, Victorian premiere Daniel Andrews and Political Editor at BuzzFeedOz Mark Di Stefano have sparked a war of words on twitter and the thing is going off like a damn firecracker. The beef (and we use that term loosely) basically escalated from some cheery banter between the pair, until Andrews got blunt and the public jumped on board. From there, things kinda got out of control.
It all started when BuzzFeedOz’s political reporter Alice Workman took a trip to see Mr Andrews at the Victorian Parliament this morning. Andrews shared a happy snap of the pair along with a with a few (#CuzImRelevant) emojis and the promise of some content for the site. Stirring the pot, the Premier followed that up with a swipe at BuzzfeedOz Political Editor and proud Sydney resident, Di Stefano, inviting him to come and take a look outside of NSW.
Feel free to come on down anytime @MarkDiStef. There are states outside of NSW, ya know.

Well, that invitation was swiftly denied by Di Stefano, who facetiously bit back:
I put forward that Sydney is better than Melbourne in nearly every way. https://t.co/deGjUGmXgI

U WOT MATE?!
Well, Daniel Andrews does not take too kindly to these kinds of words.
Nup. too far ‘buddy’. Log off.
@MarkDiStef Wrong. Log off.

Yes, it was all in a bit of fun – but it didn’t stop there…
@MarkDiStef what a time* to be alive

It didn’t take long for Di Stefano to cop an absolute earful from the Twitterverse. One really stepped up the state’s ‘new sport’ by calling him a scallop. Wow.
Getting roasted by Melburnians on lockouts is the new state sport. pic.twitter.com/ayVtpZa7TS

@MarkDiStef you asked for it, ya scallop. #DoyleRules (Melbourne Lord Mayor)

So here we go again.
We’ll just wait for #CasinoMike to step in… Any minute now.
Around in circles, always twirling.
For the record. Clearly, Victoria ??
