Music legend Dave Grohl is reportedly set to go solo after falling out with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The 47-year-old legend is apparently gearing up to launch his solo career and working on some original tunes, despite the band insisting they are simply on a hiatus.

An insider shared:

“The band is billing it as a ‘break,’ but it’s totally Dave going solo, and Taylor is p***ed about it.”

It’s reported that Dave’s performance at the Oscars on Sunday night marked his first foray into the industry as a solo artist and there’s some other projects in the pipeline. However, another source close to the situation denied the rumour, saying reports of bad blood over a split are “completely untrue”, according to the New York Post’s Page Six column. Either way, that’s not to say the former Nirvana member doesn’t have his sights on dishing off a coupl’a cheeky solo tracks while the band is taking some down time.

Dave performed ‘Blackbird’ for the In Memoriam tribute at the 2016 Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and it was bloody terrific.

As Grohl played and sang, a video tribute played in the background honouring the Academy members who had passed away in the last year, including the likes of Sir Christopher Lee, David Bowie – who enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in films such as ‘Labyrinth’ and ‘The Hunger’ – and ‘Harry Potter’ star Alan Rickman. We wouldn’t mind seeing a bit more of Dave’s big ol’ smilie face rocking around the traps – bring it on.
