David Bowie Will Receive Tribute Accolade At The CFDA Awards
David Bowie will posthumously receive a tribute at the The Council of Fashion Designers of America awards this June.
The star-studded ceremony this summer – set to be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York – will honour the ‘Starman’ hitmaker, who died from cancer in January at the age of 69, with the special gong at the glamorous ceremony.
David’s widow Iman took to social media to broadcast the accolade her late husband is set to receive posthumously for his influence in the fashion industry.
She re-posted the image published on The CFDA account on her Instagram:
The President of the CFDA, Steven Kolb said: “The CFDA Fashion Awards honour the best and brightest talent in American Fashion today. A CFDA Award is one of the most coveted honours in the fashion industry.”
This year’s fashion bash, in collaboration with Swarovski, will be the first time the event will be broadcast live, following a deal with The Weinstein Company on June 6.
Steven explained:
“The CFDA board of directors agreed that it was time to further elevate the CFDA Fashion Awards and bring them to the wider audience on television.”
