Married At First Sight’s Controversial Groom Is Getting Slammed On Twitter
Tonight the new season of Married at First Sight kicked off and while we’ve only met two of the couples we already have our villain in ‘marriage traditionalist’ Dean.
This is the dude that’s been in all the promos chirping on about how he wants a bride that will ‘obey’ him. Charming stuff. Well, we were warned and indeed Dean is every bit the d-bag we expected to meet.
Amidst some of the offensive rubbish the guy was saying in the ep, was that that these days men are ‘being whipped by their women,’ which unless he enjoys regular kinky BDSM fun is…something that isn’t an actual daily occurrence in need of social redress.
If that wasn’t enough of a turn-off, as his bride Tracey approached Dean walking down the aisle, he commented on her “good rig”. What a guy.
He also waffled on about the ‘natural order’ of society; which is apparently for the man to take charge and for a woman to accept subordination. Such wisdom.
It’s safe to say, the majority of people watching on Twitter were not fans of Dean.
Here’s what Twitter had to say about early series villain Dean:
Many viewers just thought Dean was a bit of a gronk.
With Dean’s antiquated attitudes, I’m more concerned at how he’ll feel that he isn’t marrying a virgin @MarriedAU #MAFS #9Married #likeavirgin pic.twitter.com/SWhoR6tFiD

Other viewers were offended he was even included in the series to spread his outdated opinions.
Dean is not a “mans man”. Dean is just a jerk. #MAFS

The fact that they are referring to dean as a ‘Mans man’ instead of a sexist cockhead is really grinding my gears #MAFS

#MAFS and @channel9 are guilty of normalizing misogyny by labelling him a "traditional man" and joking about his early signs of abuse.
— Moritz von Sanden (@Max_and_Moritz) January 29, 2018
Dean is entitled to be a sexist, alpha male. What he is not entitled to do is speak on behalf of all men. #MAFS

Male chauvinist with an “overprotective best friend” Oh goodie. Double trouble. #MAFS
— Isobel Ardent (@isobelardent) January 29, 2018
Dean is disgusting, no thanks #MAFS
— Alice ???????? (@alicevictoria19) January 29, 2018
I'm sure Dean's going to be all good with her having a kid, just so long as she cooks him dinner and cleans the house. #MAFS
— Jack Jones (@Broadband_) January 29, 2018
Ahem…GUILTY.
I feel like Dean was casted so that there's someone we could tweet about. #mafs
