Disney Set To Release New Indiana Jones Movies And Everyone Is Keen To Jump On Board
Following the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney have fresh plans to reboot fellow Lucasfilm franchise Indiana Jones and from all accounts the original team are keen.
When Disney took over the Lucasfilm business back in 2012, Disney CEO Bob Iger suggested there were plans to release a fifth film while studio chairman Alan Horn said that a new story was on the cards. Given that Star Wars is on track to be the most successful film release of all time, it seems that the time to crack the whip again has now arrived.
In an interview with Bloomburg late last week, Iger suggested the revival had already begun, confirming that the the fifth movie is already ‘on the way’. The news comes after cinematographer Janusz Kamiński let slip in late 2014 that his next project is the upcoming Indiana Jones film.
Despite his reluctancy to step back in to his role of Han Solo, Harrison Ford is keen to be a part of the action and it’s likely that he will return if the movie is released in the next three-four years. That is if Disney can pay his fee (again).
Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall told Total Film that only Ford could play the heroic archeology professor saying,

Steven Speilberg, who directed the past four movies, mentioned in an interview with Screen International that Ford could not be replaced. He also told French radio RTL:
“I am hoping one day to make it to an Indiana Jones V. I would hope to make it before Harrison Ford is 80 and I get much older”
It’s unclear if Shia LaBeouf will ‘just do it‘ and return as Indiana’s son ‘Henry Jones III but he’s down too. The actor said of a followup movie in a 2008 interview, “Am I into it? Who wouldn’t be? I don’t think that’s reality. It’s a fun rumor.”
That being said, one thing is for sure, Harrison Ford doesn’t want to pass on the hat to LaBeouf.
Ford said he would return for a fifth film if it does not take another twenty years to develop. In an interview with Time, when asked about passing the fedora to LaBeouf in the next film, Ford said:
“What are you talking about? It’s mine. I would love to do another Indiana Jones movie. George Lucas is working on an idea now.
Shia can get his own hat. I earned that hat.”
There is currently no word on the plot for the fifth movie or when it will be released, but as expected the internet has kicked in to overdrive with speculation. In the meantime, Disney are focusing on delivering six new Star Wars films over ten years. When Jones returns, we expect it to equally shoot down Box Office records in true Indiana style:
