The Distracted Boyfriend Meme Just Got A Rich Fan-Fiction Backstory & We Are 100% Enthralled
One of the greatest memes of 2017 is, without a doubt, the stock-photo inspired ‘distracted boyfriend’ meme. It was a phenomenon.
The image went viral sometime around the start of August and was reused and rejigged across the interwebs. Originally shared as a stock photo on iStock by photographer Antonion Guillem, it was captioned “disloyal man with his girlfriend looking at another girl”. This spurred a whole bunch of memes of the not-so-loyal bloke yearning for something new. Case in point:
Twitter user ajabernathy has now taken the meme to a whole new, rich and beautiful place. He’s gone through Guillem’s stock portfolio and pieced together photos with the actors into his own fan-fiction. It’s a deeply moving and dramatic piece that stands as a testament to the great authors of our time. Well played sir.
Please enjoy this work of perfect meme-fiction.
Follow the tweet story below, and keep a box of tissues handy. You’re in for an emotional ride:
This is where we begin, this boy is looking mighty distracted by the lady in red.

The poor girlfriend should kick his ass to the curb, but she’s got life troubles of her own.
After being blatantly disrespected by her bf on the streets, it looks like she is also having trouble with homework. pic.twitter.com/fi0gsecpgQ

Looks like she didn't learn her lesson and they're buying something expensive together. pic.twitter.com/BYwIB1NsDV

In the end, our narrator had to end his story as there were too many damn stock photos of the couple.
I could spend the rest of the day on this because I've only gotten through 14 of the 44 pages these two have together. There might be an "attempted murder" photo by page 30! I'll leave on this one.

YOU DESERVE BETTER, STOCK PHOTO GURL.
We are hoping she learns to choose better stock boyfriends in the future.
