Donald Glover Posts Script For His ‘Deadpool’ Series & It’s Spicy As Hell
Donald Glover has responded to the news that his animated Deadpool series has been shitcanned by tweeting pages of a fake script in which the title character mocks Marvel and speculates that racism may have had something to do with the show being preemptively cancelled.
Glover and his brother Stephen, who also collaborate on Atlanta, were set to write and executive produce Deadpool for US cable channel FX. But on Saturday the station announced the project would not be moving forward.
FX blamed “creative differences”, but a number of trade publications speculated that Glover was simply too busy. After all, in addition to his work on Atlanta, he’s set to appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story later this year, as well as the Lion King remake. And that’s to say nothing of his music career.
But Glover has now made it clear that a lack of time was definitely not the reason for the superhero show’s demise.
His mock script, which he dropped on Wednesday, is full of references to recent news stories, including the death of Sudan, the world’s last white South African rhino, as well as the mystery of who bit Beyonce on the face.

The plot of the episode, such as it is, involves Deadpool being hired to protect Sudan from poachers. With no one but the rhino to talk to, he ends up pondering the fate of his cancelled show.
“You know, I’m not mad about this cancelled thing,” Deadpool tells his rhino companion. “I actually think it’s a good thing. I mean, is it even a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV?”
“Do you think they cancelled the show…cause of racism?” he wonders. “All the writers were black. And the references were pretty black too… Maybe we were alienating our white audience?”
Glover also takes a jab at Marvel, with Deadpool joking that the company “was trying to sell toys to seven year old boys and fifty year old pedophiles”.
