DON’T FRET: More Tickets To Ed Sheeran’s Sold Out Aus Tour Are Going On Sale
Promoters for Ed Sheeran’s record breaking Aussie tour are telling fans to take a chill-pill because more tickets will be released soon.
Aussies have gone bat-shit insane trying to score tickets to see the world’s favourite chart-busting ranger on stage. His tour, which doesn’t touch down until March 2018 is now officially the biggest in Australasian history with more than 950,000 tickets already sold across Australia and NZ.
Before any extra tix hit the market, the bloke has already topped the previous local ticket record set by the Dire Straits in 1986 at 900,000 tickets. To put that in more recent perspective, Adele’s blockbuster 2017 tour only managed to flog a measly 730,000 sales. Meh!
As of today, tickets for Sheeran’s Melbourne and Perth gigs are completely sold out and there’s only a few nosebleed seats left (at a pretty penny) in Sydney. On the back of this crazy demand, tickets valued at $165 are already selling on sites like eBay and Gumtree fetching upwards of $2000.
But Frontier Touring boss Michael Gudinski spoke to NewCorp to assure the public that not all hope is lost. The big man in charge said there will be more tickets released at the start of next year when final production and venue details are locked in place.
In the comments on news.com.au earlier tonight, the music industry heavyweight spilled the beans, saying:
“People who are looking for tickets shouldn’t panic,”
“The tour is still a long way off, there’ll be more tickets released. They (fans) shouldn’t resort to sites like Viagogo and Gumtree. All I can ask is for people to be patient.”
There is even talk of trying to squeeze in a few cheeky extra shows (supply/demand right?), but details around this sound a little sketchy. However Gudinski let slip that he plans to approach the UK superstar about adding at least one extra show. According to the interview, it’ll be tricky to fit it into the schedule, but it could still happen.
“I believe there is demand for a fifth Melbourne show and a fourth Sydney show. I will talk to Ed about the possibility of even one extra show but it doesn’t look good as it won’t fit in the current run,” said the promoter.
From picking the venues to choosing the right support acts, it seems Sheeran is a downright pro and is fully involved in every aspect. All credit to the guy.
“He’s involved in everything”
“To achieve what he has achieved after just three albums is next level. He’s had a vision from the start, but no one could have possibly have expected it to hit these heights. He’s not just got the kids anymore, there’s people in their 50s and 60s buying tickets.
Let’s all just take a moment to take a deep breath and stream this playlist and hope everyone gets to see ol’ Teddy Sheeran do his thang.
