Ed Sheeran Announced His Plans To Quit Music Too Damn Soon

We’re tooootally happy for Ed Sheeran, who announced earlier this week that he’s engaged. BUT the wedding bells could signal the end. The singer-songwriter has previously admitted he’s keen to settle down, start a family and step away from music. It’s a punch in the gut.

Ed Sheeran could not look more loved up in his Instagram post announcing his engagement but now he’s revealed that his commitment to family life will probably mean leaving his music career behind once he’s a dad. So this is what it feels like for your heart to be warmed and broken at the same time.

In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Ed indicated that he’ll likely drop his music career into the background once he starts a family. Ed told the publication:

“My ambition is going to go to zero as soon as I have kids.”

“I am going to be like, ‘I do not really care anymore as I have another life to take care of.'”

“It is totally understandable because you have children and your ambition shifts to be like, ‘I want to be a good father.'”

So since Sheeran has always made it pretty damn clear that he’s eager to start a family soon (before he is 30!), we only have a few years left before he switches gears and leaves us with only memories.

We may or may not be blessed with another Ed Sheeran album before it’s dad-o’clock, but at least Ed’s still got his sights on some more musical milestones. Ed revealed that his next ambition is to write a country music song that goes to number one on country radio in America. Now we are absolutely here for that, throw it our way Ed!
