The 5 Emotional Stages Of The Summer Holidays We Can All Relate To
DiDi the rideshare of choice for uni students!
The moment that you realise that you now have barely any commitments for the next three summer months is probably the peak of the entire year. That feeling of relief marks the beginning of the summer holidays, and the glorious emotional rollercoaster that you are about to embark upon.
#1 Stage One: Sweet Release
It goes without saying that summer is allowed to begin as soon as you put your pen down at your final exam. That is an official Public Service Announcement. From that moment, everything you do must be a) outside, b) fun, and c) involve friends and fun summer foods such as mangoes and doughnuts. Welcome.
#2 Stage Two: Live It Up, Fam
When you have literally nothing due, the world is your oyster. That means RSVPing to every housewarming, festival, dog birthday and Christmas-themed club night on offer. And now that you don’t have to get a reasonable, human amount of sleep so that you can attend uni and learn things, you can pull the fun kind of all-nighters – all the while knowing that you can book a rideshare at any time and get home safely. Huge!
#3 Stage Three: Grade Regrets
So you are having a sizzlin’ summer…and then the grades begin to arrive. Okay, sure, maybe they could’ve been better. But there’s always next semester, right?! Which is months away. It’s all good! Still out here vibin’! Still having a good time! Nothing can stop that!
#4 Stage Four: Panic! In Bed, With Pizza
Okay, maybe something can stop that. The onward march of time has once again interfered with your relaxed summer ambience. There’s two weeks left of summer holidays, you’re broke after hitting up any and every rooftop in the city for those slick #gram shots, and it’s time to re-enrol. You have to go and buy some new pens. It’s getting real.
#5 Stage Five: Yep, It’s Definitely Over
As soon as February ends and the sun apparently COMPLETELY disappears, it feels like just a dream. Now it’s raining, you somehow already have three group projects due and while you haven’t even started the semester, you’re already over it. The only thing getting you through is the long, long wait until the next time that you can devote all your time to house parties and beach days.
See ya next summer.
