Let’s Talk About Eric From ‘Sex Education’ Because He Is An Angel

Sex Education is the best teen series to come along in literally decades and I am obsessed.

The show somehow perfectly pairs the high school experience with issues ranging from sex, consent, abortion, religion, identity politics and slut-shaming. It’s just a sensational series and everyone should binge it immediately.

The breakout star of the whole show has to be Scottish-Rwandan actor Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Eric, a black gay student and the loyal best friend of the series’ lead Otis.

He is an actual angel.

While Eric’s character could have easily been reduced to a sidekick role, he had his own story arc, and tbh all his scenes steal the show.

I can’t talk enough about him but I’m incredibly hyped to see where his story goes in season two, if it gets the green light.

Warning: some season one spoilers ahead!

Here are a few reasons why Eric is just the best thing about the whole show:

He gave us a role we don’t see often enough.

And he wasn’t just a side character or the stereotypical gay best friend.

Speaking of friends…Otis was a bad friend to Eric.

He walked all over Eric, who was constantly there for him.

Before episode seven, we can agree Otis was cancelled.

Eric is so bloody funny.

His outfit for the dance gave me life.

When his dad finally supported him I drowned in a puddle of tears.

Eric was thankfully uncancelled when he apologised.

Eric and Otis dancing together was the highlight of the entire series. No arguments.

We need more Eric next series. Or maybe just Eric. Wait, also Adam.

He is an angel and we don’t deserve him.

Tbh, I’m waaaaay too invested in this.
