12 People Utterly Obsessed With ‘Everything I Know About Love’
Get ready to be transported back to your cringe-worthy twenties, as Everything I Know About Love is here to make you relive your most questionable decisions, fashion choices, and ex-boyfriends.
The seven-part series currently streaming on Stan is an adaption of the wildly popular Dolly Alderton memoir of the same name, with Dolly serving as writer and executive producer of the series.
The book and TV show tells a love story often underrepresented: one between two childhood best friends. The TV adaption stars Emma Appleton and Bel Powley as 24-year-old besties Maggie and Birdie, who live in a London sharehouse in 2012 with their uni friends Amara and Nell, played by Aliyah Odoffin and Marli Siu respectively.
This series is peak 2012: the women are often decked out in Topshop, listening to Dizzee Rascal, and making up dance routines to Little Dragon. It’s the kind of TV series that fills you with such a sense of familiarity, comfort, and nostalgia that you pace out the episodes as you don’t want it to ever end.
Literally me.

The series has garnered almost universally glowing reviews, praised for its representation of female friendships and the struggles of being a woman in her early twenties trying to carve out a place and purpose for themselves. The series is also just a painful reminder of the terrible men that young women often let into our lives before we’re old enough to learn what we deserve, as seen by series protagonist, Maggie, dating one of the most toxic men imaginable in musician, Street: a walking/talking red flag.
Viewers follow Maggie as she searches for meaning in her life, jumping between sexual encounters and from party to party, which often merely acts as a distraction from her dwindling friendship with best friend Birdy, who at the same time is beginning her first serious relationship. Birdy starts to distance herself from Maggie and it’s something that is too relatable for anyone who has either felt dropped by a friend in a new relationship, or alternatively, is a person who often neglects their friendships when they have a new partner.
In short: everything about Everything I Know About Love is relatable to either women currently in their early twenties, or women who have gone through these formative years and have (thankfully) landed on the other side.
