Here’s The Evidence That Archie In Riverdale Isn’t That Nice, Actually He’s Kinda’ A Dick

To many Riverdale fans it’s pretty well established that Archie ‘Archikins’ Andrews is to put it simply: a ‘Nice Guy’. Capital N capital G.

Sure, he looks nice (really nice), seems nice (?kinda?), is known and regarded as ‘nice’ and even believes, somehow, that he is nice.

But alas! We are not fooled. If you really sift through the evidence in season one, he’s actually a pretty selfish and self-absorbed dude with little vision outside the workings of his own arse.

Yes, KJ Apa is dreamy af and actually seems like a seriously top bloke. His New Zealand accent reminds us of our end of the globe and he makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Sometimes our crush for him gets in the way of seeing Archie for what he truly is. Just a bit of a twat really.

Resist the trickery.

We have Cole Sprouse, the actor behind ‘Jughead Jones’ to thank for tweeting the world reminders that the TV show often mimics the character traits from the comics. Throughout the series Juggy shared moments that were even directly lifted from the OG illustrations. Even his own monologue (#imwierd) is straight off the page:

As Sprouse alludes, if you want the truth, you need to go to the source material.

And yup, that includes Archie’s douchebaggery. When we look closely at the illustrations themselves, it paints some solidifying evidence that the guy isn’t so great.

So we’ve dug in to check out some of the PROOF that Archie is more antagonist, less protagonist.

(Full disclosure i’m a jughead type and so there may be some slight bias tinting this investigative analysis).

Yea ffs Archie – if only you didn’t have such blatant disregard for other people’s feelings and zero respect for women then maybe you wouldn’t be in this fucking mess.

Props to Jughead for calling him out on this ‘the more the merrier’ approach to dating where he doesn’t seem concerned with time and space between women (See Miss Grundy, Betty, Veronica, Valerie, Veronica again, looking longingly after Betty…like NO ARCHIE YOU PASSED. DEAL WITH IT.

Throughout the comics, Jughead passive-aggressively brings Archie’s actions into question.

Jughead is so done with your shit Archie.

While you dismiss Betty and treat her like dirt Juggy is just gearing up to swoop in and steal her heart (and ours #buggy).

Veronica is such a badass bitch she can do sooooo much better than Archie Andrews.

In closing: so can all of us.

Down with Archie’s rep as a sweet guy let the people of Riverdale see the truth.
