Facebook Have Announced They’ve Teamed Up With Uber To Hail Cars Via Messenger

Today, a billion dollar tech company known as Facebook (that one that has 13 million active Australian users) announced they’ve teamed up with Uber to make sharing transport more collaborative and easier for everyone to coordinate.

In a Facebook blog post, the company announced the service will begin rolling out in select locations where Uber operates in the United States. The plan will then be to expand it across its main global operations, Australia being one of them.

When users type an address into Messenger, the option to request a ride will appear, this will enable those in the thread to hail the ride and share the fee. Being UBER, there will obviously be no mucking around with trying to split your lose coins and notes between your mates with the fare drawn evenly between the linked bank accounts. Users without Uber will be able to set up an account within the Messenger app.

Facebook has also announced that all those using the service will get their first ride free (up to $20 value) when using the new feature.
