Molly And Ziara Spill Spicy Secrets In ‘FBoy Island’ Interview
Two new FBoy Island episodes have dropped on Binge, and if you enjoyed last week’s eps, you’re in for a ride. So far, the show has proved to be anything but tame, and now host Abbie Chatfield has served up another twist – with three new intruders now thrown into the mix.
One intruder, Vernon, (who I’ve decided is, in fact, an FBoy), proudly declared that his moustache was a “clit tickler”. Yes, I’m serious. And yes, I wish I could unhear that.
To get all the tea about the intruders and frontrunners, we decided to go direct to the source.
Molly O’Halloran and Ziara Rae chatted to Punkee about the worst part of filming, the major decision to bring Nice Guy Nick back, and what their families really think about watching the raunchy show.
Note: The below interview has been condensed and edited for clarity.
On their biggest red flags or icks:
Ziara: “I think when guys are kind of putting the boys first and guys that are just there for the bros. I just think that that’s a bit of a red flag. Also, not calling out shitty behaviour, like Caleb’s comments. (Editor’s note: See more on that here). I feel like there were a lot more guys that should’ve been calling that out but didn’t and that icks me a little bit.”
Molly: “Definitely from my perspective I’m not one for an arrogant man. I like a man who has confidence but as soon as he’s like arrogant or cocky, I’m done. All I want to do is knock you down a few pegs because I can’t stand it.”
On what it’s like to kiss on camera:
Ziara: “I think when you’re with the right guy, I find that like the cameras kind of disappear and you just don’t really care.”
Molly: “When you’re doing it for seven minutes it did feel like a very bloody long time, and I felt so bad for the audio crew because they got to really know me very well that day. But yeah, I totally agree, with the right person, the cameras go away… and it’s not the worst thing that’s shown on there, so kissing will be fine.”
On having feelings for multiple guys at the same time:
Ziara: “Yeah, I think it is. This show is an intel into modern dating. In the real world, everyone’s talking to multiple people, feeling different people out. You just don’t see it all at once. And I struggled with that a bit. I was finding a connection with multiple guys and I didn’t want to make anyone feel jealous. So it was a little bit hard to manage.”
Molly: “That was the worst part for me. It’s doing it in front of the other guys. Like if you are casually seeing a few people and you know going on a couple of first dates, cool, whatever, but actually doing it in front of the rest of the other blokes. I felt bad. I felt really bad.”
On Mitch exposing intruder Vernon from Ep 3:
(ICYMI: Mitch apparently recognised the intruder, and claimed Vernon broke up with his girlfriend to come on the show. Although, if you missed it, I’m not sure how. He literally told the story to anybody that would listen.)
Molly: “I mean, it was definitely very overwhelming. I think a lot of the time they just drop these bombs on you in the ceremonies. I think for me all I wanted was some transparency and honesty. I don’t mind too much what’s happened beforehand, but be honest about it. Yeah, but I was definitely ready to ask a few questions, that’s for sure.”
“I’m not on here to get my heart broken for a second time. So I’d be treading carefully, but it’s hard to know what’s the truth or if these other boys are just throwing everybody else under the bus? Yeah, it’s a bit of a mindfuck to be honest.”

On what Ziara really thinks about Izaya:
Ziara: “He’s so sweet and I feel like he stood out from the other guys because the other guys were getting in there first. He would hardly even approach me, I feel like it was just really organic, the things that we talked about. Because we’re both the youngest ones on the show, I think that’s why we bonded. My only hesitation is [that] he’s really so young compared to guys that I usually do go for, because I like to think I’m a little bit mature for my age. And I think 21-year-old guys, been there, done that, it never works.”
On the red flags they’ve seen while watching the show:
Ziara: “I think definitely the Darcy and Cory fight for me and Caleb’s vile words about Molly as well. We had no idea that that was said and Caleb’s nothing but lovely to me. If you look at our actual onscreen time, he’s great. So yeah, that was very hard for me to watch.”
Molly: “It’s so hard to know what these boys are thinking or saying behind closed doors until we actually see them cut to the interviews. So definitely Caleb’s comments, if I had have known what he said during the first elimination, he would have been out of there quick smart. But you know, unfortunately, we just have to go with the information we have at the time.”
“As well as little things that the boys are saying to each other, or even to the girls. Vernon referred to his moustache as the ‘clit tickler’. That was the first time I had heard that and I was like, wow, okay. So definitely, you know, those off-the-cuff comments that we’re not privy to, we’re seeing for the first time when watching the show as well.”
Molly on bringing Nick back and what the other contestants thought:
Molly: “I wasn’t too interested in anybody else. So I just put my hand up and I was like, ‘Look, is there any chance… because I don’t like anybody at the moment.’ I’m very glad they let me bend the rules a little bit and invite Nick back and I’m glad he agreed to come back.”
“I think the other contestants are a little bit intimidated, but I didn’t want anybody to think that they couldn’t still go for me. I also didn’t want Nick to think just because he’s coming back and he has it in the bag, because again, I can’t stand a cocky bloke. You know if he comes back and just thinks he’s got me, he’s got another thing coming, which you’ll see in the next few episodes.”

On what their friends and family think about FBoy Island:
Ziara: “My friends are very, very invested. It’s kind of hard to watch it with them. I guess I was a bit worried about it be my dad not toing quite raunchy, and there were some things that I said that I was cringing about. But seeing it all come to light, I love how it’s not taking itself too seriously, it’s light-hearted. I’ve told my dad not to watch it, but my mum and nana are enjoying it and I’m really loving the feedback.”
Molly: “My friends have been very supportive and are asking me so many questions about the show. My family is a little bit more reserved. I think they’re very private people and they’re probably not as outspoken as I can be. Although mum did watch the first two episodes and said she quite enjoyed them. But now my parents have fled to Europe so they will not be watching the rest of the season. They support me from afar.”
