Announced via a Facebook post this morning: Midnight Oil are back! The hugely successful band will reform to play a range of gigs in Australia and internationally in 2017. Fuck yaas!

The full post reads:

“We wanted you to be the first to know that the five of us are planning to do some gigs in Australia and overseas during 2017. It will probably be at least the end of this year before we know exactly where or when – but if you want to be first to hear about any dates, head over to bit.ly/MidnightOilMailingList and sign up to the mailing list.

You can grab your free download of ‘Forgotten Years’ live from Canberra while you’re there and catch up on some other big news too. Hope to see you soon … from Bones, Jim, Martin, Peter and Rob.”

No specifics around possible dates and locations have been announced as yet, but the fact that they are getting the group back together with most of the guys being involved in several other bands and Garrett exiting his political career- is a pretty damn impressive feat in itself.

Along with the announced tour, the band has gifted fans with a downloadable live track ‘Forgotten Years’, from a 2009 warm-up gig for the Sound Relief fundraising concert.
