Even Lena Headey Agrees Cersei’s Ending On ‘Game Of Thrones’ Sucked

There are countless reasons why the ending of Game of Thrones didn’t quite meet expectations but one of its worst storyline choices was the lame way Cersei met her demise.

Across the eight seasons, Cersei had a growing number of enemies that would have liked to have killed her off. I mean, come on, Arya witnessed her own father being beheaded thanks to Cersei’s family so surely she deserved to do the honours.

But what did we get? A big pile of rocks.

Tbh, I would have even taken Daenerys killing Cersei by dragon fire as a Game of Thrones ending but nope. As King’s Landing burnt to the ground, both Cersei and Jaime were killed by the falling rubble. That’s it. No revenge. No vindication. It made watching the previous seven seasons feel meaningless.

While some of the other characters endings actually made sense, there’s no denying Cersei’s royally sucked.

WE DESERVED SO MUCH MORE.

Now as the dust has settled, it looks like the actress who played Cersei, Lena Headey, actually agrees. In an interview with the Guardian she admitted to being let down.

“Obviously you dream of your death,” she said. “I will say, I wanted a better death.”

Amen. Lena admitted that she knew that some fans would be left unimpressed: “I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone. No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb,” Lena said.

“You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted,” she said.

The feeling is mutual.
