Many fans were left questioning why Jon didn’t pet his doggo Ghost, something a dog owner would never do. Director David Nutter told Huffington Post that it all came down to the wolf being computer generated and unable to interact with people.
“Since the direwolves are kind of CG creations, we felt it best to keep it as simple as possible,” said Nutter. “Keeping Ghost off to the side, I thought that played out better.”
I don’t think many people agree.

Twitter users have been taking the piss out of using special effects as an excuse considering all the crazy shit we’ve already seen this season.
Things GoT had the CGI budget for this season:
* Endless dragon rides and battles
* White Walker fights and deaths
* A giant picking up a child
* The Night King’s shenanigans
* Ships battle against a dragonBut a scene with Jon saying goodbye to Ghost was just not doable?! pic.twitter.com/rTyrxC7q6l

Hopefully they find the budget for someone (anyone?) to give Ghost the pat he’s been longing for all these eight seasons.
