Game Of Thrones’ Director Reckons Ed Sheeran’s Cameo Was Seamless
No one would have expected that the biggest story to come from the premiere of Game of Thrones would be about the appearance of a British pop star. But that cameo by Ed Sheeran had throners in a fit of rage as they took to the internet to vent their displeasure with the odd casting.
The hate on Twitter got so bad for the singer, that Sheeran deleted his Twitter. He has since reactivated his account, but now the episode’s director Jeremy Podeswa has spoken out to defend the appearance of the ginger-haired singer.
“I think his lovely voice was used to great effect and he just has a really nice presence,” Podeswa told Variety.
“He blends into the world of the show in a nice way where if you didn’t have all these associations with him and his musical career, nobody would even blink about his presence on the show.”
Not sure about that, Jerry. The biggest criticism among fans was that Sheeran’s random appearance seemed a bad fit for the series.

GO AWAY ED SHEERAN. This is why we can't have nice things #GameofThrones

Podeswa went on to say how much he enjoyed working with the ‘Shape of You‘ singer.
“It was lovely working with Ed,” he said.
“He is one of the nicest guys in the world, and he really is one of the guys. He’s lovely, he’s a team player, he wants to do a good job, he takes direction, he’s very open.”
We have no doubt that Sheeran is a delightful human being and doesn’t deserve the hate heading his way. But whether it was appropriate to have him on the HBO series is another thing.
At the very least, it’s given us enough lols to last the rest of the season.
