Gigi Hadid Won’t Walk In China’s Victoria’s Secret Show And People Have Theories
Gigi Hadid just tweeted that she’s not going to be joining her Victoria’s Secret crew for the show in Shanghai this year and some people are calling it karma for the controversial Buddha impersonation video that caused such a backlash earlier this year.
The news that Gigi won’t be walking in the upcoming show, which takes place on November 20, is hard to hear for a lot of her mega fans, especially given the late notice.
Gigi tweeted the news, saying that she’s “bummed” to miss the show and “can’t wait for next year”.
I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year! 🙂 x

Some people have been quick with their theories as to why Gigi will be MIA from the runway, and a lot of the ideas floating around relate to the controversial Instagram video from a few months back.
It showed Gigi imitating a mini Buddha sculpture by squinting her eyes. People were pretty appalled by the young model’s behaviour, describing it as racist. While Gigi apologised for the video, people are wondering whether her absence from the China show is part of the fallout from her behaviour.
A lot of responses to the tweet are taking a strong stance on the matter.

The exact dynamics of the situation have not been confirmed and we may never be privy to exactly why Gigi will be missing out on the show, but still it’s a good reminder to think about your actions, especially before you post them on social media for the world to see.
