Amid Pokémon Go‘s continued mega-mania, a live-action Pokémon film is being fast-tracked and is reportedly in negotiations with Marvel and Disney screenwriters.

One of the writers pegged to be involved is Nicole Perlman, a screenwriter from Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor, and another rumoured writer to be signing on to the project is Alex Hirsch, the man behind Disney’s Gravity Falls.

The writing choices allude that the film will be a comedy, and while the movie isn’t going to cover Pokémon Go, according to Variety the story will instead be an adaptation of the Detective Pikachu games.

Universal Pictures are set to handle the worldwide distribution, but the movie doesn’t have a title or release date as yet.
