Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have rightly dubbed Melbourne’s James Lord as the “best bloke in Australia”. The claim comes after Lord acted as a reference for a complete stranger during a prank call on the duo’s radio show.

When asked by Hamish, who was posing as job seeker ‘Tim’,  if he would pretend to be a reference, Lord responded with “Sweet as, no worries dude,” and wasn’t too fazed at all by the request.

As Lee called him pretending to be a potential employer, he completely fabricated a friendship with “Tim” and definitely went the extra mile to insure ol’ Timmy got a decent ref.

On the call, Lord told Lee:

“What you see is pretty much what you get with him, he’s a go-getter and when he says things are going to get done they get done”

The video has since gone viral and James deemed a bloody ‘Strayan hero.

Lord told 9news.com.au that he was a long-time fan of Hamish and Andy and thought he’d be able to recognise their voices.

“I thought yeah I’ll be able to pick it,” he said. “I’ve always hoped I would be stitched up and I’d recognise their voices, but yeah it didn’t work out that way unfortunately.”

He said since he agreed to be the guys reference, he naturally vouched for the dude.

“After I went along with it I just thought ‘Well I better follow through on this and do my best’,” he said.

James said he had been inundated with Facebook posts, messages and friend requests ever since the video went viral.

On being labelled by the radio duo as “the best bloke in Australia” James replied:

“I’ll happily live with that,” he said. “I’ll take it.”

WHAT A LEGEND!
