Here’s What Harley Breen Had To Say About Trying To Teach The ‘Bachelorette’ Dudes Stand-Up Comedy

On tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette we watched as well-known comic and all-round good guy Harley Breen tried to teach the Bachy dudes the real way to Angie’s heart: making her laugh.

On the group date, the chosen lads were made to perform a stand-up comedy sketch to not only Angie, but a whole audience of people. And it’s safe to say a lot of them were shitting themselves.

Watching the guys get ready was something of reality TV gold. As Harley patiently did the rounds and helped the guys with their routines, it was Timm who really had him on his toes as to how he would do.

When questioned by producers what Harley thought of Timm’s comedic training, he said he couldn’t stop thinking about Timm and whether he’d be “amazing or absolute chaos.”

“I think Timm will be funny, I just don’t think Timm will know why he’s funny,” Harley told the cameras.

We chatted to Harley Breen before the show aired and while he couldn’t say much to us at the time, he did warn us someone wasn’t that great.

“I haven’t seen the final edit, but there’s definitely someone who crashes and burns,” Harley told us. And the advice he’d give ANYONE who crashes and burns when performing stand-up? “Get off stage! Just get straight off the stage!” Harley laughed.

When asked what was harder, competing on reality TV for love or doing stand-up, Harley had this to say: “I wouldn’t call these guys brave, but I would never be able to go on a show like this.”

Harley, of course, is known for his other Channel 10 show Taboo, a show where he tackles sensitive subjects and concludes it with a comedy routine.

When asked by 10 Daily which show was harder to film, Harley said The Bachelorette.

Taboo had such a wonderful framework for comedy. Even if you just look at that old equation tragedy plus time equals comedy, there was such a willingness for the participants to be part of the joke,” he explained, saying with The Bachelorette he was coming in completely cold due to not knowing any of the guys or the context around their lives.

As we saw on the episode, Timm somehow managed to pull his act together, while it could’ve been anyone from Scot, Tom, Glenn or Adam who crashed and burned the worst.

I think it’s safe to say Harley’s competition in the world of comedy isn’t too strong.
