Netflix’s Heartbreak High has won over hearts across the globe.

The reboot of the ’90s Australian teen drama revolves around a tight friendship group of Hartley High students, who are forced into attending a sex education class after a ‘sex map’ is discovered in school which links them together based on their history of hooking up with each other.

The series is uniquely Australian, dropping local terms like eshays, Centrelink, and plenty of C-bombs. The students confront issues ranging from consent, sexual pleasure, and sexual identities, along with tough topics like racism, police brutality, and slut-shaming.

Heartbreak High has already been praised for its diverse cast, sharp writing, along with its accurate depiction of autism displayed in the character Quinni, who is played by autistic actress and activist, Chloe Hayden.

On TikTok, the show is a goddamn sensation! Among the many Australians sharing why they related to the series, Americans are applauding the show for covering important topics that affect teens.

“It’s a heartwarming show. It’s funny, it’s tragic at times, the actors are all amazing — they’re all going to be stars,” @HouseOfGeeks said.

In another TikTok, @ImUrgency reacted to one of the scenes for being just so damn funny.

And in another video, sexologist @Kai.Lukas highlighted the series’ representation of asexuality

While Canadian (sorry, not American, but close!) user @PianoPunk praised the depiction of an autistic person dating someone who is straight-up toxic, which they related to.

The reviews across the internet are overwhelmingly positive. David Opie wrote for Digital Spy that Heartbreak High was more than just its inclusive cast. “Diversity alone doesn’t make for a great show, but… this inclusivity is combined with honest performances and smartly balanced scripting,” he wrote.

While Christine Kinori in The Review Geek heralded the series as “a much-needed breath of fresh air” and quipped that the teen drama “understands the assignment.”

The series has also copped glowing reviews by American YouTubers, including Kristen Maldonado and Alajhax.

In short, the world loves us, but the best part is that the series still feels like ours. The script is super niche to the Australian experience, so we understand the jokes on a whole other level.

The only question left to ponder is: Season 2, WHEN???

Heartbreak High can be streamed on Netflix.
