In breaking news today, lesbians continue to be the best. That’s a statement that doesn’t actually require proof, but we have it anyway, in the form of the most heartwarming video you’ll see all week.

The video starts off like a regular trip to Memphis Zoo, with the couple in question — Jessa Gillaspie and Becky McCabe — posing outside the gates for a cute pic. You’d be forgiven for thinking the person holding the camera has made a grievous error and started filming a video when they meant to take a photo, but this turns out to just be part of an elaborate ruse to capture a surprise proposal on film.

Sure enough, McCabe gets down on one knee and starts to propose. It’s Gillaspie’s reaction, though, that really makes it — instead of saying yes, she runs out of frame and returns holding her handbag.

Since the video was posted to Facebook on Sunday, it’s absolutely blown up. Gillaspie wrote on Facebook that she’s been blown away by the response.

“We had no idea this would blow up so quickly! But I can’t say I’m not thrilled, because all I’ve ever wanted was for Beck and the world to know how much l love her.”
