Melbourne and Sydney share a sibling rivalry for the ages – hell – we even had to build a whole new city from scratch to name our nation’s capital and avoid playing faves.
Recently at Video Junkee, we were able to wrangle Real Housewife of Melbourne star Janet Roach and her Sydney nemesis Melissa Tkautz into the same room to compete in a Housewives State of Origin.
Okay, so in reality they might actually be friends, they’re certainly not nemeses to the level of Janet Vs Lydia. That aside, this was our chance to get the classy ladies head-to-head, womano-e-womano to satisfy our interstate battle urges. Across three rounds, we tested the ladies on their knowledge of the city, from obscure trivia, celebrity hometowns and their city landscapes.
Let’s kick things off and get ready to ‘SHINE, SHINE, SHINE’.
Round One: Random Knowledge
To ease into things, round one consists of three rapid-fire random Melbourne or Sydney related questions from our deck of general knowledge.
Coming in cold, it’s Sydney with the early lead with Melissa scoring 2 points to Janet’s 1.
Okay… take a seat ladies, we’re not done yet. On to round 2!
Round Two: Celeb Home States
As celebs themselves, Janet and Melissa should be rubbing shoulders with their fellow hometown A-Z listers on the reg. So how well do they know their famous m8s? Can they guess where these well known Aussie identities come from?
Scores are level!
With scores for round two coming nearly to 5-6, our overall score card is sitting nicely at 7 each. Which works well for us because we prepared a final and third round to settle things! Bring on round three.
Round Three: City Landscapes
We switched the bitch on the women, getting them to name which city landscape was of their own state’s making. It’s not as easy as they think.
Boom – it’s a draw with 10 points each.
