The New Hungry Jack’s Storm Flavour Is Giving Macca’s Bubblegum McFlurry Energy
Hungry Jack’s has dropped a new Storm flavour, and it’s suuuuper similar to the iconic McDonald’s Bubblegum McFlurry.
As two big names in fast food, HJ’s and Macca’s have always had beef… ahem, pardon the pun. They both sell burgers, fries, delicious slushies and similar desserts like their mixed soft serve aka McFlurries and Storms.
If you’ve never heard of these delectable desserts (seriously, you OK?), it’s soft serve ice cream mixed with a topping like Oreo or M&M minis in a cup. Every once in a while, HJ’s and Macca’s will feature a special flavour for a limited time.
On Monday, Hungry Jack’s expanded its Storm range with the new Bubblegum Flavour, but is it really new?

Back around the 2010s, Macca’s released a Bubblegum McFlurry which consisted of creamy soft serve, a sweet blue bubblegum syrup and mini marshmallows, just like the Bubblegum Storm.
It was beloved for its unique taste. The Bubblegum McFlurry was truly for the girlies with a sweet tooth!
Although the Bubblegum McFlurry had built a cult following, Macca’s took it off the menu and never brought it back.
The flavour is so loved that there’s even a Change.org petition that currently sits at over 600 signatures.
But now, it looks like Hungry Jack’s is willing to fill that void in people’s heart (and stomach) with their latest Storm flavour.
Trusty Aussie food TikToker, @Russ.eats, tried the new flavour, describing HJ’s version as “blatant plagiarism.”
But does it taste like the OG Bubblegum McFlurry?
According to Russ, the Bubblegum storm is “pretty f*cking spot on,” but he also criticised the treat for being a bit stingy with the marshmallows.

The Aussie food reviewer ultimately gave the frozen treat a 7/10, deducting points for its lack of the delicious mini marshmallow toppings, which is totally fair.
Personally, I’d still go out of my way to snatch the Bubblegum Storm, purely for the nostalgia factor of a Bubblegum McFlurry, but I will be asking for extra marshmallows.
Fingers crossed that these Bubblegum Storms stay on the menu forever, unlike the Macca’s Bubblegum McFlurry.
