Shannon Noll’s management has cleared up the deets behind a spectacular Instagram video, that sees the singer/national treasure orchestrating a “shoey for Shanno”. It’s a thing of beauty! But in the fallout of Nollsy being an absolute hero, he’s been pushed around and knocked to the ground by the Aussie media.

The clip, which was filmed at the Parkwood Tavern on the Gold Coast on Friday night was uploaded by Sophie Talbot with the caption “Australia has no culture” #cooked. While we’re in full support for a shirtless Nollsy getting his new found rig out and adding some fan participation – some people weren’t so pleased. Mainly because it’s all been taken out of context.

As it turns out, Shano is an all round good bloke. His fans are concerned that the clip is being used by the media to paint him as a loose unit that’s lost the plot. It comes on the back of his run-in at the Crazy Horse, so there’s no doubt a narrative is running that makes him look like a man off the rails. It’s triggered some of his fans and management to clarify what exactly was going down.

Here’s the gram in question:

On Instagram, one fan wrote:

Wow… I was there and he had the decency to spend time talking to all of us and to the requests made by all. I think it’s terrible you have uploaded this when clearly he wouldn’t want it. Anyway enjoy your 5 minutes of glory…

Sophie was quick to respond, saying:

sophieetalbot@muthaterrezza yeah I totally agree! He was a really nice guy and played a good show, I upoladed[sic] this with absolutely no bad intentions and I obviously didn’t know it would go viral.

It was simply something I found funny and personally shared I’m not seeking “glory” off an Instagram post and I don’t have a bad word to say about the guy and I have ensured to advise media of this. Even if I was to remove it now it wouldn’t make a difference as it’s already on several different social media platforms.

Noll’s promoter Rick Szabo has now weighed in on it all. Speaking to NewsCorp, Szabo clarified that Nollsy had been working up a sweat and ripped off his shirt. The guns were out and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“Shannon had his shirt off because he was soaking wet from the performance”

“He hadn’t even had a beer,”

“It’s an absolute joke. These assumptions people put online, with absolutely no evidence, are terrible.

Szabo also clarified how the video came to be.

“He was towelling off and going to get a clean shirt and there were a group of fans backstage — he loves meeting his fans, he always makes time for them.

“One girl had a specific request to get a picture of him pouring the beer in the boot for her local female touch football team. Shannon gratefully obliged. The video online is not the video from the girl who asked for the shoey, she hasn’t posted it at all.

So there you have it. Nollsy, the Aussie legend getting back to his feet to say…
