It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the best show about the worst people in the world. It’s like Friends, if the friends were terrible people

Dennis, Dee, Charlie, Mac and Frank have absolutely zero shame or self-awareness, and the gang has literally ruined lives in the most hilarious way possible.

They’ve destroyed houses, taken a baby to a tanning salon, pretended to have cancer (more than once) — the gang’s done everything, and we kinda love them for it.

These are the 12 worst things the gang in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia have ever done:

#1. Frank set Sweet Dee on fire

In an attempt to become famous, the gang stages a rescue and films Dee running into a building to save some kittens — without telling her that they’re going to set the building on fire to make it more dramatic.

Dee absolutely yeets the kittens out of the burning building, ruining the video because nobody looks heroic when they throw a box of kittens to the ground.

#2. Faked a funeral for a baby

Dee’s plan to make up a fake baby to get paid child support backfires when she gets audited, and in an attempt to get out of trouble she holds a funeral for her fake baby. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

It’s already messed up, but then Frank uses the opportunity to sell cans of his new soft drink and a severely-pepper sprayed Dee knocks over the coffin and sends a dead dog rolling into the audience.

#3. Painted a baby with shoe polish

The gang find a baby in the dumpster and decide to look after him — so they can kickstart his modelling career and steal the profits. So when they’re told that there’s a high demand for Latino babies, they try everything they can think of to make his skin look darker.

They take him to a tanning salon “just to get a base” and paint him with brown shoe polish before child services can take him away.

#4. Kidnapped a family and destroyed their house

The It’s Always Sunny gang have a few moments of sincerity, but most of them go horribly wrong. Which is exactly what happens when they try to do something nice for their neighbours and renovate their house for free.

To pull off the surprise, they kidnap the family in the middle of the night and start knocking down walls in their house.

They force the family to buy all the supplies, putting them massively in debt, and the renovations end with the house burning to the ground.

#5. Broke Sweet Dee

It was only a matter of time before the gang’s constant arguing and cruel jokes got the better of them, and Dee is the first to break. She just kinda gives up all of her hopes and dreams and settles in to eat an entire cake. Mood.

The gang feel bad about it, so they plan an elaborate scheme to make Dee think she’s finally made it as a comedian. After they trick her into thinking she’s famous, they reveal the whole thing was a hoax to make her happy while it lasted. Needless to say, it doesn’t make her feel any better.

#6. Ran a sweatshop

Part of the reason the It’s Always Sunny gang gets into so much trouble is because whenever they come up with a get rich quick scheme, they go balls to the wall to get rich quick.

When Dee, Dennis and Charlie try their hand at designing clothes, Frank opens a sweatshop to mass-produce their designs. Complete with employees earning less than minimum wage and war propaganda blasting over the speakers.

#7. Charlie wore a Nazi uniform

When Dennis and Dee force Charlie to visit their grandfather in a nursing home, Pop-Pop asks him to get a box of things out of storage.

Turns out, Pop-Pop was a member of the SS, and Charlie puts on his old uniform, like, immediately.

#8. Charlie and Dee almost became cannibals

No one actually eats human meat, but Charlie and Dee think they do and by that stage, the damage has been done. They get “the hunger” that no other food will satisfy and pretty much immediately lean into their new lives as cannibals.

They visit the morgue and kidnap a homeless man in search of human meat, before realising that Frank just fed them racoon meat that gave them a tapeworm.

#9. Frank ran a child beauty pageant

Frank agrees to host a beauty pageant, thinking it’ll bring hot women into the bar. But when he realises that it’s a children’s beauty pageant he panics, thinking it’ll make him look like a creep.

Nothing bad actually happens in this episode, besides watching Frank try to convince everyone that “I am not going to diddle your kids”.

#10. Literally everything the gang did to Rickety Cricket

Poor Cricket. He started the show as a respectable priest and ended up homeless and scarred emotionally and physically thanks to his run ins with the gang.

#11. Charlie’s mum pretended to have cancer

The gang hold a fundraiser to help pay for Charlie’s mum’s cancer treatment. Halfway through an emotional plea for money, Charlie’s mum admits that she doesn’t actually have cancer and is just faking it to raise money to repair a church statue that she ran over.

#12. The D.E.N.N.I.S. system

Let’s be real, Dennis is probably a psychopath. His carefully crafted system for hooking up with women stands for “Demonstrate value. Engage physically. Nurturing dependence. Neglect emotionally. Inspire hope. Separate entirely.”

Brb, deleting Tinder forever.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia gang really are loveable monsters.
