Stop Sleeping On J Lo, She Was Literally The Best Part Of The VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards is one of the most anticipated award shows of the year and, I mean, for good reason.

It has given us some of the most iconic moments of pop culture history: the time Madonna macked on with Britney, Gaga’s meat dress, the origin story of Taylor and Kanye’s beef, Miley’s unfortunate foam finger incident, Beyonce’s pregnancy reveal, an *NSYNC reunion — I could seriously go on and on.

And in comparison, it’s safe to say that this year’s show was, uh, a little very lacklustre.

We were holding out for a hero to save the day. Someone to turn this shit show into something, literally anything else. And at around three-quarters of the way through, she emerged from the shadows and revealed herself.

J.Lo came back in town to SHUT IT DOWN and we’re completely obsessed.

The 49-year-old – let that sink in – took to the stage in a regal blue and gold Versace look to slay a medley of her greatest hits.

Starting with Waiting for Tonight, J. Lo also performed bangers like On the Floor, Let’s Get Loud, and Ain’t Your Mama, along with iconic throwbacks like My Love Don’t Cost a Thing, All I Have, and (obvi) Jenny From the Block.

Honestly, we are not worthy.

Following her performance, J.Lo received this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, recognising her accomplishments in both music and film.

Her speech was long-as-shit but at this point, J.Lo could break our necks, then spit on us and we would be like “YASSS J.LO FUCK IT UP!”

We are also obsessed with her supportive partner, Alex Rodriguez

And her daughter, who was probably the proudest person in the room.

Thanks for existing J.Lo. And for making this years VMAs, ya know, less sucky.
