Good news! Jay-Z has confirmed that he and Kanye have patched things up after the high-profile rift between the two stars put a block on their friendship.

In a feature interview for The New York Times Style Magazine, Jay went into the dynamics of his “complicated relationship” with Kanye and how the two have worked things out.

They’ve always had a pretty infamously tumultuous friendship but things came to head in November of last year when Kanye included Jay and Beyoncé as targets in an on-stage rant.

It’s nice to hear that the old m8s have been able to be mature about the ‘feud’ (take notes TayTay… ) and work out their differences. Jay-Z described his relationship with West and how their dynamics let them leave their ‘beef’ behind.

“Kanye came into this business on my label,” said Jay. “So I’ve always been like his big brother. And we’re both entertainers. It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother.”

Jay’s approach to conflict resolution sounds pretty damn mature. Much wisdom here:

“In the long relationship, you know, hopefully when we’re 89 we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that. You know what I’m saying?

There’s gonna be complications in the relationship that we have to get through. And the only way to get through that is we sit down and have a dialogue and say, “These are the things that I’m uncomfortable with. These are the things that are unacceptable to me. This is what I feel.”

As for where they are now:

“I [talked to] Kanye the other day,” said Jay. “Just to tell him, like, he’s my brother. I love Kanye. I do. It’s a complicated relationship with us.”

So that’s at least one celebrity beef that we can put to bed. Glad these guys could work things out, now we are ready for more collab tunes. Pls and thank you.
