Jericho On His ‘Survivor’ Elimination: “The Biggest Blindside Is Yourself”
It happened too soon – everyone’s favourite cookie monster Jericho was the second person to be voted off Australian Survivor: All Stars, following Shane Gould’s elimination the night before.
It wasn’t too much of a shock that the two former winners were voted off in the first week and both felt like they entered with a huge target on their back.
“I always believe in miracles, I can dodge bullets and I did that last time, but unlucky!,” Jericho told Punkee today, laughing off his short-lived journey.
While he’s always been a favourite amongst fans and his teammates alike, part of Jericho’s tribe last night formed an alliance over cookies to vote the former winner off, but Jericho appreciated the sentiment.
“It was so funny, the irony. I did exactly the same thing to my entire tribe the first time and then you see the whole tribe do it on me! They were toasting cookies to my elimination, I found it hilarious,” he said.
And for those who are curious, his favourite type of cookie is salted caramel. Byron Bay Cookies, if you’re reading this, hit the man up.

Perhaps the best part of his final episode was Jericho’s last-minute attempt to cement his safety, getting emotional during the tribal council. When we asked if his tears and emotions were genuine, he was quick to have a laugh at how his own strategy nearly fooled him as well.
“Obviously I came into tribal council with a strategy to persuade people using emotions because I knew people were quite emotional. But as I was about to do the whole act I was almost believing my own lies because I got emotional.
It was this whole entanglement of ‘am I actually really emotional right now?!’ Then I snapped out of it halfway into my cry. The tears were HALF real! David knew I was playing up though,” he said.

The ultimate trap Jericho thinks his now-former tribemates could fall into is if they don’t keep their egos in check. “The biggest blindside is yourself,” he explained. “You get blinded by your own ego. You get blinded by your own belief that you’re the greatest – especially when you’re told you’re an All Star!”
And he gave us this parting wisdom on who he sees as the biggest threats on the show right now: “Going in, I thought David, AK and Mat and even Phoebe. But now I’m out and after seeing the dynamics, I think Matty and David are really running the show.”
