Katy Perry’s Menulog Ad Is Going Viral On TikTok And Aussies Are Furious

A sign of a good advertising jingle is when it gets stuck in your head to the point that you eventually become conditioned to crave hearing it. Lube Mobile did it well, bananas thrived with ‘Make Your Body Sing’, and in terms of more recent ads, Menulog’s ‘Did Somebody Say?’ is just so damn catchy.

In the latest version, Katy Perry is enlisted to sing about having curry in a hurry, sushi while she watches a movie, and margherita with extra cheese on it, all while she’s dressed up as various food items.

If you’ve somehow avoided seeing this ad in 2022 then I’m low-key impressed, but here it is:

While Snoop Dogg’s original Menulog rap had its charms, this Katy Perry ad takes it to a whole other level.

And in recent weeks, the jingle has exploded in popularity on TikTok.

When she sings “ding dong”, I could kick a door off its goddamn hinges.

The song has been rising in popularity on the platform, which led TikTokkers to learn that the Katy Perry ad is adapted in many different countries, which have delivery apps with various different names.

For instance, it’s called Just Eat in the UK and Lieferando in Germany. Canadians call their version SkipTheDishes which is shortened to Skip in the ad.  Are y’all OK?

I’m sorry Australia, but Katy Perry didn’t pen that banger specifically for us: it’s part of a global campaign.

Not to sound too patriotic but Skip just DOES NOT fit in the song and Canadian TikTok users agree.

Once Australian TikTok came to grips with this startling discovery, all that was left to do was argue that ours is the best. One argument was that Menulog just rhymed better than the international alternatives.
