KIIS FM Stoop To New Low With ‘Guess What’s In The Boogie Board Bag’ Competition
Melbourne Radio Station KIIS 101.1 has stooped to new moral low, with the announcement of their new competition based on a pretty tasteless joke.
Listeners can win a trip to a beautiful exotic location, escaping the bitter cold of Melbourne’s winter, but all you have to do to win is tell them what they’ve “got stuffed inside the KIIS 101.1 boogie board bag?”
If the conditions of the competition didn’t ring enough alarm bells, the destination of the trip is none other than Bali.
Here’s the comp below:
It takes no Sherlock Holmes to see the correlation between the competition and the circumstances of Schapelle Corby. Corby is currently on parole, after initially being sentenced to 20 years jail, being found guilty of trafficking over 4kg of marijuana inside her boogie board bag, travelling from Australia to Bali.
While Corby is obviously no angel, making a competition that takes the piss out of her misfortune is pretty unclassy.
This isn’t the first time the station has taken aim at Corby, in regards to her parole KIIS also published an article in January last year, portraying Corby as a hoon “partying on parole”. The article received a horde of negative responses, telling the radio station to leave her be.
Adding insult to injury, on the stations page detailing the competition, there are links under ‘related stuff’ to articles documenting the executions of the Bali nine.
Come on, guys?
Although like many I’d love to win a trip to Bali, I won’t be guessing what’s stuffed in the KIIS 101.1 boogie board bag and endorsing a competition that blatantly trivialises the drug related sentences of Schapelle Corby and many others.
