Two of Australia’s brightest artists – legendary hip-hop producer Ta-ku and the fast rising Brisbane-based vocalist Wafia have today announce an intimate, collaborative EP called ‘(m)edian’.

If you’re like me and desperate for a taste of the duo’s new fusion – fear not – this morning they’ve released the EP’s first single ‘Meet in the Middle’ via the dudes at Future Classic.

The single forms a balance between both artists’ styles, telling stories close to both of their lives. In a statement, Wafia said,

“This song came out of a need to write about a very personal experience that both Reggie and I shared independently of each other.

Meet In The Middle is about finding the middle ground to communicate that to someone.”

The duo’s collective energies were first heard on Ta-ku’s interpretation of Estelle’s “American Boy”, in “American Girl” – a slowed-down re-construction that featured Wafia’s stunning vocals. Since then, the pair have performed at a prestigious, sold-out MoMA PS1 in New York City for Ta-ku’s inaugural live show. They came together once more for Wafia’s globally recognised, Hype-Machine #1 single, “Heartburn”, off her debut EP and sold-out national tour in April.

Catch these guys performing at the Sydney Opera House for a sold-out show as part of VIVID Live (with a second now on sale). At the shows, “Meet in the Middle” will be performed live with accompaniment from a string quartet and kaleidoscopic visuals.
