Lorde Suggests It Could Be A 10 Year Wait For More Music And NOPE.
So Lorde dropped a line on Twitter about the time it might take her to produce another album, and try to stay calm but this could be a hell of a wait.
Lorde is an absolute sensation and one of the most widely and passionately adored musicians of our generation. She’s an angel and Melodrama was a raw and powerful gift given to us straight from her heart. Plus it’s one of the most acclaimed albums of 2017. It was well worth the four year wait following her debut album came and rocked our world, and we completely understand that Lorde (AKA Ella) is super young and working hard to give us incredible music.
But this suggestion of a 10 year wait for more music is quite a lot to take in.
YES – 10 YEARS?!
The other day Lorde shared a bit of insight into where she’s at re music making and posted a tweet that inspired quite a lot of hope that the answer would be SOON:
just realising that if i truly want to have the artistic journey i'm capable of in this lifetime i will have to work very fast
— Lorde (@lorde) November 3, 2017
She followed up with this, which is a beautiful insight into her composition process, but it did dampen the hope of more music being close on the horizon:
years of that work will probably just look like walking around the house having thoughts and writing them down
— Lorde (@lorde) November 3, 2017
When a fan replied with “yeah and not 4 FUCKING YEARS FOR AN ALBUM”, Lorde, being the blessed being that she is, came back with nothing but truth.
And it’s a bit too real for us:
no that's the thing it might be 4 years it might be 10 not gonna make albums that only exist on one plane they have to be supercellular https://t.co/qMzffqM1h8

So basically, there’s no knowing when we’ll hear more of Lorde’s incredible music. We do understand that she doesn’t want to rush the creative process and we trust her because she is a god among mortals but holy wow not sure we can go a whole decade without more fire Lorde tracks. Plz no.
Fans responded with due panic but overall respect because Lorde is too pure and incites kindness and empathy from people. These tweets pretty much wrap up the emotional mixture of distress and support you’re probably feeling:
First comes pain and heartache:

Then comes acceptance, love and support:
dude wtf you’re still so young and growing, you need to live life and breathe first in order to create art. take ur time girl I love u

These years of waiting for Melodrama have been so worth it, what a record. We get the fact you got to live to write. And we'll wait.

Please never rush your creative process, I would rather have a few really great albums, than a library of filler tracks that mean nothing ❤️
— Cara ???? (@Challahatyogirl) November 6, 2017
just write whenever it’s good for you i’ll always support you no matter how long it takes ❤️????
