Lorde is a blessing to us all. No arguments, and Lorde’s Instagram story about the shitty-ness of having acne and the shitty-ness of the unsolicited advice acne is super refreshing to hear.

Proving once again that she is a queen of the people, Lorde hit us with some very real content the other day that is so damn relatable for anyone who has ever suffered from acne.

ICYMI, speaking to her followers through her selfie-cam while lying down, Lorde was holding a blue and red LED light over her face (a device used to help kill bacteria in the skin and reduce inflammation) as she captioned the clip “acne light with magical tones”.

As a side note, the whole scene kinda looks like the iconic Melodrama album cover.

Theory: acne is genesis of album art

Her opening line:

“For real though, acne sucks.”

As acne is something sooooo many people suffer from, it’s comforting to hear celebs like Lorde (and Kendall Jenner) sharing and owning their struggles publicly.

The ‘Green Light‘ singer took the chance to express her frustrations with the endless ‘solutions’ often unqualified people are always throwing in the direction of acne sufferers.

Let this series of vids of Lorde taking the piss be a warning of what-not-to-say to people struggling with skin issues. Here’s the list of nopes:

“You know what also sucks? When you’ve had acne for years and years and years. Tried all the drugs, done all the things, and people are still like “you know what worked for me?” Moisturising.”

“Make a mask out of honey, greek yogurt and avocado!”

“All you need to do is buy an apricot scrub!”

“Coconut oil! The secret is coconut oil!”
