Malcolm Turnbull resigns from cabinet, requests ballot for Liberal Party leadership

This afternoon, Malcolm Turnbull has met with Prime Minister Tony Abbott to request a ballot for the party leadership.

Mr Turnbull, has also sensationally resigned from his Cabinet role as the Minister for Communications.

The action taken by Turnbull follows new speculation that there has been unrest within the Liberal Party.

Addressing the media, Turnbull stated the current government has not been successful and has indicated that there needs to be significant change if they are any chance of winning the next election.
