WTF: Mark Latham Has Publicly Thrown His Support Behind Donald Trump

“Donald is by no means perfect but I much prefer his approach to the lying snakes of machine politics”

Mark Latham, what have you done?

From the almost most unlikely place in Australian politics, Donald Trump has gained backing from former Labor Leader Mark Latham. This is exactly as absurd as it sounds. Considering Trump is going for leader of the conservative party and Latham was once leader of a “more progressive” party. Politics, am I right?

Mind you, Latham looks like he’s been losing his mind since losing the 2004 election to John Howard and the Libs. He’s verbally bashed domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty and transgender military officer Cate McGregor. He was busted by Buzzfeed for a chunk of slanderous tweets linked to his email account and thus resigned as a writer for the Australian Financial review.

So I guess maybe it’s “on trend” that he throws his support behind Trump because God only knows Trump needs it. In giving his support Latham said;

“For the past quarter of a century, under the 24-hour news cycle, whenever a non-politician, a genuine outsider, has run for elected office, the media have jumped all over their novelty value, depicting them as some kind of freak show … Donald is by no means perfect but I much prefer his approach to the lying snakes of machine politics and media manipulation.”

*loud groan*

I just hope that Americans take Latham as seriously as most Australians do these days – not very.
