In a befitting end to a clusterfuck of a year, Mark Zuckerberg has found himself in a beef with Avril Lavigne, after a joke he made in a video about band Nickelback.

As featured in a video for AI system called ‘Jarvis’ (which is voiced by Morgan Freeman) Zuckerberg asks Jarvis to “play us some good Nickelback songs?”. Jarvis replies: “I’m sorry Mark, I’m afraid I can’t do that – there are no good Nickelback songs.”

“Good. That was actually a test,” responds Zuckerberg.

ZING!

It’s not a great joke, and yeah that gag has been done to death. The dig did not go unnoticed by former spouse of Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, singer Avril Lavigne. The ‘Complicated’ hot-maker posted a angst-filled message to the Facebook founder this morning across her socials.

SHE. IS. V. PISSED.

“You’re allowed your musical opinion however, your jab at Nickelback is in poor taste,” Lavigne writes.“When you have a voice like yours, you may want to consider being more responsible with promoting bullying, especially given what’s going on in the world today.”

She included the hashtags: #SayNoToBullying, #TheJokeIsOld and #NickelbackHasSoldOver50MillionAlbums.

Lavigne does make some solid points in terms of rallying against bullying, but Zuckerberg is far from the first to take a jab at Nickelback. If she plans on taking on anyone that makes fun of her ex’s band, she may never sleep again.

Watch Zuckerberg’s joke for yourself. I think it’s pretty tame, tbh.
