It’s a new year, it’s a new decade but more importantly, it’s about to be time for a whole new season of Married at First Sight to literally take over our entire lives.

Ahead of the premiere on February 3, it’s time to get to know this year’s contestants and we couldn’t help but wildly speculate over what to expect and the drama that might be in store for us.

Here’s our early judgements of the 2020 Married at First Sight contestants:

Stacey

25, Perth

This 25-year-old law graduate is a mum to two kids, and following a broken engagement is unapologetic about the sky-high expectations she has for her future partner.

Predictions: She’ll be right in amongst the dinner party drama, throwing her husband in front of the bus (he didn’t have Splenda?!) and leading a bitchy ‘Mean Girls’ cliche.

Chances of staying married: No chance in hell.

Michael

28, Adelaide

Michael is a single dad AND apparently a millionaire, so aside from making me immediately regret not applying this year, this means he’ll be wary of anyone after his money. The self-titled alpha-male reckons he’s a “wisecracking joker with a great sense of humour” and is a serial casual dater.

Predictions: If anyone was to pull a Sam/Dan and ditch their partner for another bride, it’ll be this dude.

Chances of staying married: HELL NO. I doubt he’ll even remember the poor lass’ name by the honeymoon.

Connie

27, Melbourne

Connie is an aspiring marine biologist who is ready to find The One, after being single for five years. She is one of those fumbling, awkward woman that doesn’t know how hot she is, and says she feels incredibly awkward around men.

Predictions: Connie is as wholesome as they come and will likely get the hero edit. If they match her with the right person, we could have a love story on our hands. But I reckon they’ll match her with a douche and we’ll all feel for the poor girl. Could Connie be the Liz of the 2020 season? Maybe!

Chances of staying married: Could go either way but I’m leaning to an early divorce.

Chris

37, Adelaide

Chris is a youth worker and a single dad of two young boys, who wants to find himself in a long-lasting marriage like that of his parents — who have been married for 38 years.

Predictions: Chris seems like a relatively normal guy, which means he’ll be overlooked and probably barely score any airtime. I doubt he’ll rock the boat much in his faux marriage.

Chances of staying married: I reckon him and his bride will decide they’re better off as mates (and dating on TV is weird?!).

Tash

31, Adelaide

Tash is a vegan bartender and yoga teacher but somehow she is not from Melbourne, which is astounding. She says she wants her partner’s “love language” to be affectionate and able to express emotions verbally, and also for them to be a calm and positive presence.

Predictions: Tash will be someone trying to keep the peace among the dinner party feuds. Good luck to her as she’ll bloody need it.

Chances of staying married: Signs are good. She’ll go the distance but who knows if her marriage will continue after the TV show has finished filming.

Ivan

30, Sydney

Ivan is a real estate agent, but I won’t hold that against him. What I will hold against him is that he says he is someone with “strong opinions”, who is “often offending people”. We have our first villain, fam.

Predictions: This will be the guy we all love to hate and he’ll be the one in the hot seat when the experts go in on him for the offensive way he speaks to his wife.

Chances of staying married: This guy is a massive red flag and all I can say to his bride is: run, sis.

Poppy

38, Wollongong

We all fell for Poppy as she hilariously recounted her story of finding out that the father of her kids had cheated on her. The photographer and mum to twin toddlers is clearly a hoot and says she is seeking a life partner and someone who is going to be a role model to her boys.

Predictions: Poppy will give us all the feels but might take a while to warm up to her new hubby.

Chances of staying married: This marriage will be rollercoaster but they might actually go the distance.

Jonethen

27, Gold Coast

Jonethen says that he easily attracts women but struggles to keep a lady for longer than a few months. This guy sounds like a commitment-phobe so err…this show is perfect for him!

Predictions: This will be the dude leading the charge on boys’ night and saying crude things about his wife. I look forward to his dressing down at the reunion.

Chances of staying married: Ooft. This marriage won’t last past the first few weeks.

Natasha

26, Sydney

Natasha is a confident and outspoken businesswoman who has previously only dated men older than her. She is ready to shake things up and is hoping to date a guy closer to her own age this time around.

Predictions: Natasha will be right in the middle of conflict and won’t be shy. Will she fill Martha’s shoes and throw the first wine? You can count on it.

Chances of staying married: Signs are not good.

Luke

39, Melbourne

This FIFO maintenance supervisor became a father at 21 and has since raised two teenage daughters. Luke struggles to find a work/life balance and admits he and his first wife grew apart.

Predictions: We will all be rooting for Luke and he’ll likely be a calming presence in his relationship, but might struggle to show emotion.

Chances of staying married: This guy will be committed to the experiment but sadly might not receive the same level of commitment from his bride.

Mishel

48, Brisbane

This teacher from Brisbane is a mother to two adult daughters and says she’s been cheated on in most of her relationships. Mishel says she has no filter and says exactly what’s on her mind.

Predictions: Mishel will take on a motherly role among the group but that doesn’t mean she won’t call it like she sees it, and will be amongst the drama at the dinner parties, along with yelling out her feelings at the commitment ceremonies.

Chances of staying married: Mishel will fully commit to the experiment but struggle to find someone loyal.

Steve

51, Melbourne

Steve is a cancer survivor who was diagnosed with testicular cancer eight years ago. He admitted that his much younger ex-girlfriend nursed him through the experience, and said for his next relationship he is looking for a woman closer to his age.

Predictions: This guy will charm us all but I reckon he’ll have a wandering eye and start cracking on to some of the younger ladies behind his wife’s back.

Chances of staying married: Big nope.

Aleksandra

26, Perth

Aleksandra is a real estate agent whose family desperately wants her to get married. Despite only being 26 years old, she says in “Serbian years” she’s basically 100, but her parents do not approve of her doing the experiment.

Predictions: She’ll get wrapped up in the fairy tale of it all until she comes thumping back down to earth on her honeymoon realising her groom is far from prince charming.

Chances of staying married: She will give it a red-hot go but things will start to crumble after her groom meets her family.

David

31, Melbourne

David is a former boxer, so essentially he’s been preparing for this face-off his entire life. From his years in the boxing ring, he endured a severe spinal injury resulting in surgery but managed to rehabilitate himself.

Predictions: David will try to stay out of the drama but his fiery wife will likely drag him back in.

Chances of staying married: Pretty unlikely.

Cathy

26, Sydney

Cathy is a logistics investigator who has trust issues after two of her most recent relationships ended because of cheating. She has a thick skin but her partner might have to work extra hard to break down her walls.

Predictions: Cathy will fall fast but struggle when it comes to jealousy. Flirty banter at the dinner parties between her husband and other women will not go unnoticed.

Chances of staying married: Her relationship might be rocky but will go the distance.

Mikey, 29

Sydney, NSW

Mikey is a “former private schoolboy from Sydney’s north shore”, so it’s pretty obvious that he’s come from money and privilege. These days he helps run his family’s business: a nursing home that his grandfather founded, which is pretty cute.

Predictions: He will be a bit douchey at first but eventually reveal a heart of gold.

Chances of staying married: Mikey will give it his best shot but things might fall apart just before the final commitment ceremony.

Amanda

34, Melbourne

Amanda is a 34-year-old strength coach who is ready for commitment. She admits she has a tough-girl exterior, but she’s a softie at heart.

Predictions: Amanda will not be shy about any injustices she sees among the group and will likely clash with other big characters.

Chances of staying married: She will be fully committed to the process but that might not be reciprocated in her partner.

Josh

28, Sydney

Before joining the show, tradie Josh said he had previously put “partying before partners,” but says he’s ready to finally settle down.

Predictions: Josh will be the typical Aussie larrikin we all love to stan but he might struggle with his wandering eye, along with his urges to party with the boys — leaving his wife home alone.

Chances of staying married: His marriage will quickly fall apart. Old habits die hard and Josh still has a lot of growing up to do.

Vanessa

31, Perth

After being badly bullied at school, Vanessa has struggled with insecurity in her relationships, admitting she often “shields herself from hurt” by rejecting men before they reject her. FYI: Vanessa is the ex-girlfriend of former contestant Bronson Norrish.

Predictions: Vanessa will be cold as ice at first and take a long time to warm up. But will her hubby be willing to wait? Maybe not.

Chances of staying married: This marriage will be doomed from the very beginning.

Hayley

32, Melbourne

Hayley is a ball of enegy, who after recovering from drug addiction turned her life around by focusing on health and fitness. She is now ready for her forever partner, who will hopefully empathise with her journey.

Predictions: Hayley will come off as a bit intense at first but eventually win everyone over with her unique personality.

Chances of staying married: Signs are uncertain but given this show’s record…I’m going to go with no chance in hell.

Married at First Sight premieres on February 3 at 7:30pm on Channel Nine.
