Last night’s Married At First Sight episode introduced us to two brand new couples who tied the knot and the matches actually seemed really good for once. But don’t get too comfortable, because we know those sneaky MAFS producers are always up to something — it wouldn’t make good TV if they weren’t.

But first let’s backtrack: following on from the fallout of Bronte and Harrison’s dramatic wedding, Harrison assured Bronte that he’s in it for the “right reasons” and at this stage, it looks like she’s willing to believe him.

So Harrison and Bronte, and Cam and Lyndall depart on their respective honeymoons and that’s the last time we’ll ever see them.

Haha, just kidding. I think.

Onto our new couples…

The experts paired up Sandy, a stunning Punjabi-Indian woman with Dan, a wholesome, twice-married dad as their first match, before giving marriage celebrant Jesse a run for his money with high-energy Claire, a kindergarten assistant.

The matches seemed to go VERY well until… well, let’s just recap it via tweets, shall we?

Here’s what happened on last night’s Married at First Sight as recapped via the best tweets:

Harrison explained to Bronte that he had a life before MAFS and she opened up about her fears about being disposable. Harrison assured her he’s left his dating past behind for this process. I’ll believe it when I see it!

We then met our next couple: Sandy from Victoria who’s going up against her parents and Indian culture to go on the show. She’s matched with Dan, a single dad from Queensland.

Jesse the marriage celebrant is back with his list of “icks” but what we do learn is that he’s looking for a girl with tattoos. He’s matched with Claire, a kindergarten assistant who has a bunch of tattoos, thankfully. Phew!

Sandy ‘fesses up to her parents about getting married to a stranger but her parents don’t want to be filmed. Sandy leaves their house distraught after they expressed their disapproval. She then reads out a heartfelt message from her best friend supporting her and we’re not crying, you are.

Dan’s friends entered the ceremony and immediately call it “over the top”. After finding out Sandy is of Indian heritage one “friend” commented that Dan doesn’t know what he’s in for. Um, shut up!

A nervous Sandy walked down the aisle to Dan who asks if she’s OK and before telling her she looks beautiful. Dan’s shallow, judgemental friends come around to Sandy as she reads her heartfelt vows.

Meanwhile, over at Jesse and Claire’s wedding, Jesse is stoked to see his “ungodly hot” bride walking towards him and is left speechless… for once in his life. They bond over their tattoos and their loud, clicking jaws. Whatever works, I guess.

Things are going super well between Jesse and Claire until Claire asks Jesse’s birthday to find out his horoscope and you can see his brain having a meltdown. Things got worse when she started talking about crystals. Jesse hates horoscopes and crystals! And many other things!

Sandy opened up to Dan about her parents and he’s super impressed with her sense of self. They share a beautiful moment where he reassures her that there is no rush and he’s just keen to get to know her.

Claire gifted Jesse with a crystal and he nearly entered full blown “ick” territory, but managed to pull it together, saying that he’ll respect Claire’s passions. They seal the deal with a kiss.

As the couples embark on their honeymoons, things are going smoothly for Dan and Sandy in Singapore, but Jesse is starting to realise Claire is… still kind of annoying him. I guess having someone match your energy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

Upon arriving at the Whitsundays, things are tense between the pair after Jesse told his new wife to “shush” and he tried to explain sometimes he needs… silence. Relatable, tbh.

Tomorrow night: the drama and ick continues, of course! In the meantime, have you joined our Facebook group Reality Tea yet? Get around it, fam!
