2022 is finally looking up! Channel 9 has just dropped one hell of a Married at First Sight trailer, and we’re simply salivating over all the drama that’s coming.

There’s an awful lot to digest from the two-minute promo. Standout moments include contestants screaming at each other, one having a foot phobia, someone doing a shoey, plenty of tears, and a couple going at it on a bed. At one stage, during one of the infamous dinner parties, one woman is heard saying, “I’ll say it to your face: I don’t like you and I don’t like you!” Oop!

The most shocking moment comes as all of the contestants decide to walk out on the experts during a commitment ceremony — leaving John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Alessandra Rampolla beyond shook.

In a promo that dropped last year, the network teased that this year’s cast is the best-looking so far. “Get ready for the most handsome new grooms and breathtaking new brides we’ve ever hitched,” the teaser said. It’s clear that matching compatible people with the intention of forming connections is no longer the show’s top priority, instead choosing pretty people who are probably only on the show to cause chaos and build a social media following.

Among the cast, one confirmed contestant is influencer Brent Vitiello, who already boasts a following of over 50k.

Thankfully we don’t have long to wait to watch all the mayhem unfold, Married at First Sight kicks off in three weeks on 31 January. The upcoming season will be the show’s ninth, with the series showing little sign of slowing down after becoming an international sensation in recent years. Last year’s season proved to be the show’s most controversial yet, due to what many considered gaslighting and manipulative behaviour exhibited by groom Bryce Ruthven.
