The dreaded girls’ and (more notably) boys’ nights went down last night on Married at First Sight, and somehow it wasn’t a toxic mess of misogyny. You know what we call that? Growth.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Firstly, the couples had to pick up the pieces from the couple swap task, as Melinda was notified by a producer that Layton would not be returning to their apartment. This led to a blow-up between Melinda and Bronte, i.e. the person Layton had spent the last few days discussing his relationship with.

This never-ending rivalry is starting to give Olivia Vs Dom energy, and I’m getting PTSD. I hope the wine glasses are going to be hid at tonight’s second last dinner party!

Until then, roll the tweets!

Girls’ and boys’ night on Married at First Sight retold via the funniest tweets:

Couple-swapping is wrapping up, and the vibes is frosty between Harrison and Melinda. The rest of the couples reunite with Lyndall back having awkward, stilted convos with Cam after an easy few days with Ollie. Cam shares that working remotely for weeks on end is weighing on his mind. Lyndall suggests she could move to Darwin but he shuts her down.

Layton shares with Bronte that he’s not willing to move back in with Melinda, as he’s questioning her morals and principles. A producer then tells Melinda that Layton won’t be returning to their shared room, prompting her to confront Bronte over what she said. She denies any responsibility for Layton turning on Melinda.

Melinda then visits Layton and she ends up in tears. He says he wants some time away from her, and she says she wants him to see things from her perspective. They speak in their room and Melinda breaks down over feeling hurt and heartbroken. After a night away, Layton moves back in with Mel.

After visiting with her son, Alyssa is in better spirits with Duncan. But who cares because it’s girls’ and boys’ night! A bunch of ex-contestants return, with Sandy strolling into drinks to give the gals a life update. She revealed that Dan has been messaging her, then got emotional speaking about the impact her marriage breakdown has had on her family.

Josh cruises into boys’ night. Disney King, rise! Josh and Hugo bond over their failed relationships.

Caitlin is warmly greeted by her girlies, she’s feeling her oats, and we are goddamn here for it. Rupert rightly assesses that out of all the departed grooms, Shannon is the worst.

Claire arrives and Bronte blanks her. As the current contestants share their couple-swapping week stories, Bronte decides to describe in the most dramatic way possible that she spent three days “alone” because Layton wouldn’t move in. Melinda questions Bronte’s story and, of course, they get into another feud.

Sandy then drops a bombshell: she doesn’t believe Bronte has feelings for Harrison, and she thinks she’s being emotionally manipulated. Bronte storms off for the millionth time.

Janelle arrives and forgives Claire for her part in the cheating scandal. Adam drops in to apologise to the other boys, but for some reason, Harrison takes over the conversation and accuses him of throwing the boys under the bus to save himself. Adam replies that Harrison needs to “start owning shit,” and brings up that Harrison never owned up to getting a girl’s number.

Back with the girlies, they’re all loving life and supporting each other.

Straight facts.
