Sunday night’s commitment ceremonies on Married at First Sight are often the most chaotic episodes, and last night was no exception.

Fresh from telling her husband Duncan that she had cheated before, Alyssa was the most vocal and unforgiving towards Claire last night, despite the cheating bride expressing loads of remorse and regret towards her treatment of Jesse and Janelle.

If you look up ‘hypocrisy’ in the dictionary, you’ll find Alyssa’s mug.

It was a night shaped by baffling moments, as during another scene, Harrison started to sob when opening up about Bronte’s struggles with endometriosis. We weren’t buying it and neither were the experts.

There’s a lot to cover from Sunday’s antics so let’s hop straight in! Hop, hop!

Last night’s messy commitment ceremony on Married at First Sight recapped in tweets:

Adam is still sooking over the dinner party as he reckons his voice wasn’t being heard. I heard your voice plenty, champ. Alyssa and Duncan are still bickering over the cheating saga… that doesn’t involve them in the slightest.

Jesse reads Claire’s letter (read aloud in a soap opera-style voiceover) where she apologised profusely. We then jump straight into the commitment ceremony, private girly/blokey chats be damned!

Janelle and Adam are first up and the vibe is frosty. Alessandra calls Adam out for justifying his cheating and showing more concern for Jesse than for Janelle at the dinner party. As Adam further defends his behaviour, Lyndall calls him out for flirting with other women. Oop!

Sandy jumps in to defend Claire, and for some reason, Alyssa cuts her off. Lyndall jumps back in to say that at least Claire is showing remorse, unlike Adam. Daddy John has the final word: he tells Adam that he’s making “bad choices”. Adam and Janelle both vote to leave. Adam walks out, but no one follows him.

Alyssa starts to sob uncontrollably on the couch, revealing that Duncan maintaining a friendship with Adam has been “triggering” for her. Considering Alyssa’s history of cheating, everyone is rather confused she’s being so self-righteous. Despite their rocky week, they both vote to stay.

Melinda and Layton have never been better, they’re even getting along for multiple days at a time! True love exists! Dreams do come true! Ollie and Tahnee are predictably perfect.

Harrison is alone on the couch, revealing that Bronte’s endometriosis stopped her from coming to the ceremony. But in a bizarre turn, Harrison starts to sob… about it. No one knows what’s happening.

Newbies Evelyn and Rupert plonk on the couch, and John roasts Rupert for being such an awkward dude. Weird flex but OK. He opens up that he doesn’t think Evelyn is attracted to him, and she confirms that she is.

Sandy and Dan are no longer vibing after an explosive argument over Sandy feeling neglected. Sandy said he’s often gone for hours at a time, despite them supposedly in an experiment together. Dan then reveals he’s not currently sexually attracted to Sandy. They both vote to stay.

Tayla complains about Hugo excessively complimenting her, like calling her “adorable” and “cute”. She would prefer to be called ‘smart, quick, and driven’… by the man she just met. She then admits she’s not attracted to Hugo, as he’s not her type.

Lyndall and Cam are at breaking point. During a FaceTime with Lyndall’s mum, Cam refused to hug Lyndall to comfort her. He said he found the exchange “unnatural” and “weird”, and Lyndall says that she thinks he’s repulsed by her. They seemingly make up then vote to stay together.

Jesse and Claire are the last couple on the couch. John asks why Claire didn’t come clean about the cheating earlier, lying to both Jesse and Janelle in the process. Sandy tries to defend Claire, but Alyssa and Melinda are filthy with her.

Jesse starts to sob as Claire apologises. Jesse chooses to leave the experiment while Claire elects to stay, as she wants to attempt to make amends. Jesse says he’s exhausted and John praises him for taking the cheating news so well, encouraging him to give Claire another chance.

Poor dude. Free Jesse!
