Ding dong! What’s the time? It’s time for Married at First Sight’s very first commitment ceremony, of course!

MAFS fans will know this is a sacred episode. It’s the first time the contestants receive feedback from experts John, Mel and Alessandra, which means the experiment’s more controversial brides and grooms are finally held accountable for their actions so far. And oh boy, did this episode deliver!

A very special shoutout to Alessandra, as she dropped some truly iconic clapbacks directed at Andrew last night, along with all the boys in the experiment who think that women speaking about their periods is something to laugh about. Seriously, grow up!

Despite the friction between some of the couples, everyone voted to remain in the experiment. There’s a lot to discuss about the commitment ceremony so let’s jump into the episode by going through the best tweets.

The very first Married at First Sight commitment ceremony retold in funny tweets:

The episode begins with the couples being separated before they gather together in groups to discuss what their decisions will be at the upcoming commitment ceremony.

Tamara and Brent are first up on the experts’ couch, but things get awkward when Tamara says that she’s unsure whether Brent is good enough for her.

Luckily, it’s not all bad! Jackson and Olivia continue to be incredibly loved up and the experts are thrilled for them. Mitch and Ella are also getting along great, but the experts worry their connection is not going deep enough.

Cody and Selina started out barely speaking to each other. When sitting with the experts, Cody apologised for his ‘I’m not racist but…’ comment about her looks, clarifying that he jumbled his words and he thinks Selina is beautiful.

Dom told the experts she wants Jack to always have the urge to rip her clothes off, but he said he doesn’t feel like that all the time. The topic of period sex comes up and Alessandra scolds some of the men for giggling like schoolboys.

The experts go in on Selin upon hearing how she had spoken to Anthony on their honeymoon, labelling him a “princess”. Selin accepts that she can be insensitive to people’s feelings before she voting to stay — but in hilariously tiny writing. Despite everything that’s gone down, Anthony also votes to stay. OK??

Al and Samantha are up next and the experts advise Sam that she needs to stop taking the lead in their relationship. John thinks she should act like a ‘lover and not a mother’. In response, Al votes to stay by using a Superman ‘S’ often seen scribbled by literal children.

And finally, Andrew comes out all guns blazing against Holly and is promptly torn to shreds by the experts, who tell him that he can’t excuse hurtful comments because he claims he’s just being honest.

Everyone voted to stay in the experiment, including Andrew and Holly — however Andrew wrote ‘Leave’ first before crossing it out to write ‘Stay’. He totally stole Bryce’s move and we hate to see it!
