After two weeks of meeting this year’s Married at First Sight contestants and watching their chaotic weddings, we’ve finally reached the first commitment ceremony aka it’s time for these men to be finally held accountable by the experts.

And the experts did not disappoint! John was in fine form, giving both Harrison and Shannon a dressing down for deceiving their way on to the show. ICYMI: the two grooms applied for MAFS despite both carrying some hefty baggage in the form of their exes. Alessandra also got in on the Harrison hate parade — and it was iconic!

The whole Jesse/Claire/Adam love triangle came undone, as Lyndall dropped a bombshell on the group: she reckons Adam made some weird remark about going home with Claire on the messy night in question. Oop!

There’s a lot to discuss so let’s jump in!

The first Married at First Sight commitment ceremony recapped in tweets:

It’s commitment ceremony time! The girlies and fellas catch up to discuss their decisions. Lyndall doesn’t get involved, as she is harbouring a secret: she has info she wants to raise at the commitment ceremony.

Jesse and Claire are first to plop down on the couch. Jesse tells the experts about Adam and Claire sneaking off together on a night out. Adam says that Jesse’s actions were “not on” after he came into his room in the early hours, convinced Claire was talking to Adam on the phone. However, Claire reveals the voice Jesse thought was Adam was actually her friend’s boyfriend.

Just when Jesse is convinced that he got it wrong, Lyndall says that she overheard Adam joke that he would potentially go home with Claire. Jesse votes to leave but Claire elects to stay.

Adam and Janelle are next on the couch. Adam starts with an apology, Janelle says she’s feeling insecure, but they both agree to stay.

Dream couple Ollie and Tahnee choose to stay together, as do Melinda and Layton who reveal their connection has grown over time and they’ve started sleeping together. “The attraction came and it came a lot,” as Melinda described. Oh lordy!

Sandy and Dan, along with Duncan and Alyssa, are also on solid ground, all choosing to stay in the experiment.

Melissa and Josh are another story. They share that they’re on different pages in terms of the role sex should play in a relationship. But despite this, they vote to stay.

Bronte and Harrison clash again (surprise!) after the groom makes a snarky remark about how he hasn’t seen his wife for a few weeks which ‘felt like a holiday’. This! Man!

Harrison then lashes out when Bronte brings up that his ex-GF helped her pack for MAFS. He reckons that “the truth got skewed” and he didn’t feel like he had to be faithful to Bronte before meeting her. Alessandra gives Harrison a dressing down — queen shit. Harrison votes to (foolishly) leave while Bronte chooses to (foolishly) stay.

Cameron and Lyndall are stronger than ever. Shannon drops a bombshell on the experts: he told Caitlin that he still loves his ex. He then reveals he was intimate with his ex a week before the experiment began. The group grills the groom on his decision to come on the show. However, Shannon and Caitlin both choose to stay.

Daddy John slams Shannon and Harrison for being deceitful about seeing other women before the experiment began. Harrison responds, “That’s bullshit.” Boy bye!
