In case you were wondering if Married at First Sight could get any more cooked, the couples were instructed to swap partners on last night’s episode.

To mark the start of Feedback Week, every couple remaining in the experiment were instructed to trade apartments so that contestants could spend time in different couples for a series of tasks, like asking hard-hitting questions, and writing letters to their wives/husbands.

In a strike of brilliance, the experiment’s two warring couples — Bronte and Harrison, and Melinda and Layton — were told to switch partners. While fans may have expected this would trigger more fights between Melinda and Harrison, it ended up causing a feud between Melinda and Layton, as he felt unsupported by Mel going through with the task when he opted to stay alone in another apartment, instead of shacking up with Bronte. Cue drama!

Let’s unpack it all via some A+ tweets!

Last night’s couple-swapping on Married at First Sight recapped in funny tweets:

The couples are reeling from Claire and Jesse’s departure, with the bulk of the couples laying the blame upon Harrison for meddling. Meanwhile, Bronte and Harrison debrief to badmouth Melinda.

But we’re moving on and the experiment is about to get weird…well, weirder. For the first stage of Feedback Week, the couples are instructed to swap partners. Of course, Harrison and Melinda have to move in together aka MAFS producers are chaos demons.

Layton is meant to move in with Bronte, but he refuses to take part. Melinda wants to give the task a chance and thinks her husband is just unwilling to relinquish control. Harrison arrives in time to witness Melinda and Layton in a feud. Melinda tells Layton that he’s “acting like a Harrison right now” and he vacates their apartment.

Ollie shares that he’s noticed Lyndall and Cam don’t have hard conversations unless they’re on the experts’ couch. Lyndall realises Ollie is easier to talk to than her actual hubby. Later in the episode, Ollie dons Cam drag wearing a blonde wig and a cowboy hat.

The experiment’s hottest couple, Evelyn and Duncan, are thriving. Rupert and Tahnee have a cute time reflecting on their respective relationships. To up the romance, Rupert sends Evelyn some flowers, and she’s feeling like she’s in a rom-com.

Melinda and Harrison are tasked with asking hard-hitting questions. She drops that she thinks he will cheat on Bronte when the experiment ends, and their relationship is fake.

Layton has decided to take part in the challenge without sleeping in the same room as Bronte. He visits Bronte to tell her he felt attacked by Harrison and Melinda. He then asks Bronte if he’s right in questioning Mel’s morals, and Bronte claims that Melinda gaslit him. That’s a reach, sis. She then tells him she finds Mel “aggressive”, and disappointingly, Layton says nothing to defend his wife.

The contestants write an honesty letter addressed to their partners. Alyssa reads her concerns about Duncan to Cam, as Duncan reads to Evelyn, with both letters highlighting the couple’s glaring issues. Evelyn gives some advice, before offering to do a baking-inspired photoshoot with Duncan as a gift for Alyssa.

Partner swap is over! Alyssa is acting weird and detached even before Duncan gifts her the photo he took — and she barely reacts. She brings up her child again… for some reason.

They fight about what way they should fight from now on. Alyssa leaves and Duncan is left confused and heartbroken. In a confessional, Duncan starts to cry and shares he’s never felt more rejected in a relationship.
